Athens Gate Hotel

"We were surprised to discover how very near this hotel is to the Acropolis. We went to the rooftop for refreshment after check-in and found indoor and outdoor tables directly facing Athens' most famous landmark. The staff were helpful and spoke English. The room was clean and modern. The front door was half a block from 3 hop on, hop off bus services and another of Hadrian's arches! The breakfast buffet was outsized in its variety and flavour, and had full speedy coffee service. It was a pleasure each time. Our stay was so pleasant we forgot we were jet lagged. I would say the walk to the Acropolis ticket booth was 10 minutes."

"We stayed at the Sofitel one night before a very early flight. It was amazing! The room was very clean and quiet. We were able to use the spa, the sauna and the pool to relax after a long vacation and before a long flight home. Definitely recommend."

"The hotel was nice, rooms were good size and the restaurant offered good food at reasonable prices. However, if you are expecting it to be close to any of the major sites or the cruise port do not choose this hotel! It is relatively close to the airport, but everything else was an hour away. Other than the onsite restaurant and bar, there was no place to go for dinner, drinks or even shopping. If we would have known this when we made our reservation, we would have chosen a different hotel."
