Going downhill fast and they really couldn’t care less about their customers. I was born on the Wirral but now live abroad and return multiple times a year for extended periods to take care of my elderly parents. Village Hotel has been my go to - there’s not a lot of other options on the Wirral with a gym and on-site dining other than Thornton Hall. For the past 18-24 months, Village has really been going downhill. I’ve taken to buying a big pack of antibacterial wipes on my drive in from the airport and giving the room a good clean before I unpack everything as I’m finding surfaces and the bathroom sticky and dusty, and not very sanitary. I even bought a hand held vacuum on one trip which I donated to my mum afterwards. But like I said, not many options of places to stay. The final straw was this trip. My mum was suddenly taken into palliative care with not long left to go. I asked the hotel if I could cancel or change the dates of my next booking due to this and they refused. This is to a loyal customer who stays multiple times a year and cleans their rooms for them as they don’t do it well themselves. Never ever again.

Room was excellent and the wet room was ideal for my disabled wife. Drinks were very expensive (£20 for a beer and a large vodka red bull) but couldn’t fault the place otherwise.
