This hotel is fantastic for location! Right across the street from Victoria station which not only has all the transportation you will need but also is within a 5 minute walk to the Apollo and Victoria Palace theatres. However, the hotel itself, for the price, was very underwhelming. Peculiar musty odor on floor 2 and a completely different offputting odor in my room, broken bedside light, and the bathroom door knob about to fall off. The bathtub sides are so high and the tub slanted towards the centre that every time I got into it for a shower I was afraid I might slip and fall while straddling it. The bathroom design for the shower part is terrible as there is only a partial wall (maybe 1/3 of the tub length) instead of a shower curtain so you have to stand so close to the showerhead side wall or the bathroom would be all wet. Shower pressure additionally is like a low flow shower. Toilet paper and facial tissues are of the same quality as used in the public restrooms throughout London so you end up using twice as much. I did appreciate having the refrigerator in the room as that allowed me to save a lot of money by having my breakfast available in the room. All in all the price being charged is due to one thing only that I can see: location, location, location! I will, however, commend Hilton's Customer Relations though for taking my concerns to heart and offering some compensation for the poor experience so I give additional brownie points for that.
Double Tree by Victoria Station was a great find. Location is walking distance to Buckingham Palace, Westminster Abby and the Parliament but if you prefer you can take the metro (Tube). Victoria station is across the street and you can go literally anywhere from there. There’s a Westminster Cathedral Catholic church a couple of blocks away from the hotel and theaters even closer. Staff is friendly and breakfast is great, it’s the same daily but you can get creative since it has a lot of variety. Exiting the station there’s a Market Halls and it has several food vendors and drinking options.
Two of us stayed for a business trip. For 2 hours between 930pm and 1130pm work was going on in a room beside us. A shower was leaking. Lots of noise and hammering. We could not sleep and we were on an early flight.
We have contacted the hotel three times on this and not even an apology.
Literally across the street from tube train station. (Back side of station). You can walk to so many places to watch a play, eat, or shop. Down the street from Bus station (Greyhound), and public transportation on every corner. The concierge was so nice, and helpful, the tour dates and times where perfect to see Camilla wave as she left the property. I loved how close everything was.
