my stay was excellent just one night because I was go on a cruise the next day and it was close to the Carnival port in Long Beach

As soon as we checked in, I noticed the commode running. I fixed that, and then an overwhelming smell of mildew was coming from the bathroom and seeping into the room. We opened the windows to let it air out, and this seemed to work the first night. By the second day, it was clear we needed to report the smell. When we did, the person at the front desk said that they were completely booked and could not change our room. I asked if we could get some kind of a discount, and they said that I could not since I booked through Expedia. I asked for a voucher for a free night on a future visit, and they said they could not do that unless I was an IHG member. By the evening of our last night, they said they found us a room, but that just seemed too little, too late. I asked if the smell was a known problem and they said no. But then we noticed when we were leaving, that the adjacent room had the door propped open with fans and running.

The shower didn't work and look as though it hadn't worked for a while. If I'm paying almost $200 for a night,I expect the shower to work as well as the housekeeping staff to understand and speak English

Old but nice

The hotel is dated but nice. The Starr was kind and helpful. The property is located close to the airport which is good and bad. There was a lot of airplane noise. As for cleanliness the carpets needed work and if you want to look out the window forget it. They were so dirty you could not see out. There are a lot of food options within walking distance. Parking is food bit not protected but the area seems safe enough.

The property was conveniently close to the airport, but lacked the level of amenities and comfort that you expect from their parent brand. The amenities were minimal. Bed was hard as a rock. The buffet was not worth the price tag. You were required to pay for parking, however there were not enough parking spaces for guests. I was in constant fear of being towed or approached by unhoused people loitering on the edge of the property. The staff were friendly and I made sure to tip the housekeepers and the servers on the one day I ate breakfast. The view from the restaurant was lovely. Overall, this property served as a place for me to grab a shower and crash for a few hours while I was on a biz trip, but I wouldn't stay at this property again.

Very nice hotel

This was a much nicer hotel than I was expecting for a Holiday Inn. Great rooms, spacious, decent views. Great breakfast and restaurant on the top floor with great drinks and views. Convenient location and enjoyable stay.
