"One of the most remarkable places we have stayed. Pristine. Quaint. Quiet. Exactly as beautifully described. We had such a wonderful time here!" - Livia

NEW TO LUMMI ISLAND? Here's what makes it unforgettable:

Getting Here: Lummi Island is a true escape — no bridges connect it to the mainland, so you'll arrive by ferry (a charming start to your getaway). The Whatcom Chief runs frequently, does not require reservations, and takes just 6-minutes to cross. Driftwood Dreams is just a 2-minute drive from the dock.

Provisioning: One thing to plan for: there's no major grocery store on the island, so most guests stock up at mainland stores before crossing. (There is a small island market perfect for basics and anything you forgot!) A little advance prep is part of the Lummi Island tradition.

We've got you covered: We make it easy every step of the way. Once your reservation is confirmed, you'll receive our Digital Guidebook with everything you need to plan a seamless, memorable stay. And I'm always just a message away — I'm Molly (Cowboys and Mermaids Vacation Rentals), and helping guests fall in love with this island is my favourite part of hosting!

ABOUT THIS PROPERTY:

Outdoor Details: The main deck off the living room is a full outdoor living room in its own right: an overstuffed conversation set around a circular table, a hammock swing in the corner, a Weber propane grill, and a dining table that seats six. Beyond the railing, Mt. Baker fills the horizon above the tall evergreens while Hale Passage stretches silver below — boats motoring past, seabirds working the thermals. The upper deck, accessed directly from the master bedroom, is a quieter perch: an outdoor beanbag chair for long afternoon reads, a side table for two, and the same unobstructed view to start or end any day.

Bedroom/Bath Details: The Sky View Master (second floor) is the crown bedroom — a king bed with a Smartlife Relaxation Mattress by King Koil, where an app lets you dial in your exact firmness level or switch on a gentle massage feature while you wind down. A sliding glass door opens straight onto the upper deck. The Beachy-Keen Master (second floor) is a second king room with a large solid wood desk — a proper remote-work setup for anyone who can't fully unplug. Both second-floor rooms share a spacious upstairs bathroom with a custom-tiled, glass-walled shower and dual shower heads. On the main floor, the Sea Glass Bedroom offers a queen bed with closet and built-in drawers, served by a bright, updated bathroom with a bathtub — perfect for washing up the littlest vacationers.

Kitchen Details: The open-concept kitchen is built for real cooking: a five-burner gas range, stainless steel appliances, a full suite of pots, pans, and bakeware, and an indoor dining table for six. The coffee station is a serious one — Keurig, Breville electric kettle, 12-cup drip pot, coffee grinder & milk frother all on deck.

Living Room: The living room anchors around cozy couches, a 55" Hisense Smart TV with Roku, a Bose soundbar, and family games & puzzles.

Conveniences: Starlink high-speed internet means no dead zones and no compromises for remote workers or heavy streamers. Washer, dryer, two hairdryers, two robes, a full basket of cozy blankets, yoga mat, and beach towels - everything's already here.

LOCATION & WHAT'S NEARBY

Lummi Island sits on the edge of the San Juan Islands — a six-minute ferry from Gooseberry Point near Bellingham, close enough to provision on the mainland before crossing, far enough that the outside world falls quiet once you arrive.

Driftwood Dreams is one of very few vacation homes within walking distance of the island's best spots:

- The Beach Store Café TEMPORARILY CLOSED (8-min walk) — the island's beloved waterfront pub for breakfast, lunch, dinner, & cold pints

- The Galley - everything's made to take with you - pressed sandwiches, soups, and salads. Enjoy indoor or outdoor dining. They have a rotating selection of wine and beer on tap with growlers available. Located just to the left of the Islander Grocery Store and within walking distance to Driftwood Dreams.

- County Park & ferry dock observation deck (8-min walk) — watch the ferry come and go; explore tide pools at low tide

- Saturday Farmers & Art Market (walking distance, summer) — local produce, handmade goods, & island neighbors

- Baker Preserve / Lummi Mountain (10-min drive) — a steep 1.6-mile trail through old-growth forest to sweeping San Juan Islands views

- Sunset Beach & Church Beach (10-min drive) — wide, uncrowded beaches perfect for sunset walks

- Artisan Wine Shop (short drive, Fri–Sat), Local Art Galleries scattered across the island, and fantastic Massage Therapy options

- Bellingham (30 min from dock) — farm-to-table dining, craft beer, and museums & shops

WHO THIS HOME IS BEST FOR

Couples who want real quiet — mornings on the upper deck with good coffee, evenings with the grill going and Mt. Baker going pink at sunset.

Friend groups and ladies trips — three bedrooms means everyone gets a real bed (two kings and a queen), the kitchen is built for cooking together, and chats around the fire pit linger late.

Families with kids — explore tide pools at the county parks, a grassy yard for corn hole, farm stand visits, and tossing stones at the beach.

Remote workers who need to half-unplug — Starlink keeps you connected, the dedicated desk keeps you focused, and the view reminds you why you booked a week.

Milestone trips — birthdays, anniversaries, celebration getaways. This is the kind of place people talk about when they get home.
