Huge Mid Century Beach Home w/Beach Access

Encounter west coast cool on Michigan's very own third coast! This stunning mid-century home is surrounded by lush woods while being just a short walk from private Lake Michigan beaches. Enjoy the serene atmosphere of Macatawa from multiple wraparound decks and balconies.

As you enter the home you will find the first flight of stairs leading to a home office and a separate space designed to hold beach gear, beach towels and a mini fridge - perfect for packing beverages for the day. The next flight of stairs leads to multiple bedrooms, a full bath and a family room. This floor offers a queen bedroom with private balcony and 2 additional queen bedrooms. Kids will love the floating beds in the matching bunk rooms that make it feel like their own private tree fort. A full bath is located on this floor as well. A short flight of stairs leads to a cozy sitting area surrounded by windows and panoramic views. The last flight of stairs leads to the top floor. The open floor plan offers unimpeded views and plenty of sunshine through the domed skylight in the living and dining area The primary suite boasts a king bed and private bath, with unique custom bathtub and waterfall faucet, plus a spacious walk in shower. This level features walk out sliders to a wraparound deck spanning the property and offering peaceful seclusion in the surrounding wooded dunes, outdoor dining space and gas grill. An additional full bath is located on this floor as well.

Private association beach access is just a short walk from the cottage. Enjoy the sandy shores and take a walk to the iconic Big Red Lighthouse. Take a drive along the lakeshore and explore nearby downtown Holland where you will find a wide array of restaurants, coffee shops, breweries, shopping and entertainment. Downtown Saugatuck/Douglas is also just a short drive south. Explore this artists enclave with its own unique blend of dining, galleries and retail establishments.

"I had the pleasure of staying at Endless Sky on Macatawa Beach with my family. We loved every minute of it! The home is beautiful and had everything we needed, including a gorgeous beach!! Unbelievable!! Amazing private sandy beach on beautiful Lake Michigan and an easy walk to the Big Red Lighthouse. Fabulous sunsets, good fishing off the pier, lovely neighborhood. It's hard to name anything we didn't love about it, but some families may want to know the house has lots of stairs and it is an uphill walk from the beach to the house. We just considered it all good exercise and part of the experience in order to access the amazing views from the decks all around the house. From one side of the house, you feel like you are in the woods - including wildlife like squirrels and deer; from other sides you can hear and see Lake Michigan. It was a bonus that we were so close to Holland and Saugatuk and got to enjoy visits to those lovely towns, as well.
Overall, this was an amazing experience with family as we made great lifetime memories!!"

"A beautiful home in a very private area. The beach is just down the hill where the sunsets are amazing. The home is just as described in the listing. I appreciated the well stocked kitchen. It made cooking at home a breeze. The rental agency was very responsive and helpful. You should be know there are lots of stairs - as there are in most houses in this area. Just be aware if you have very small kids or older adults. Can't wait to visit again sometime soon!"

House in the treetops

This house was ideal for our large family reunion group. Spacious living area with beautiful views of trees and lake, large kitchen with adjacent long table, nice sized bedrooms. Plenty of laundry/dishwasher detergents, bath and beach towels, Keurig pods. Outdoor seating on decks surrounded by treetops. Short walk downhill to lovely, quiet beach. Check in/check out was seamless. Communication with management company was impeccable. We had several issues during our stay, but they were dealt with promptly. Parking was tight for large SUV, but no problem for small/medium vehicles. There are 50 steps to the kitchen/living area so be prepared.

Perfect house! (With lots of stairs :))

Myself and the large group of 14 women we had (total) fit comfortably in this lovely home. It was clean, comfortable, and only a SHORT walk to the beach (100m). Definitely recommend this location for large groups! Wish there was a 4.5 star option as we only experienced *minor* issues. These included limited cell service at the house, limited parking (only four spots), inconsistency in information in the app vs. other instructions received (e.g. the gate code and bed stripping instructions), and trouble finding the lights in one of the bathrooms. There were also a ton of stairs, which made hauling things up to the kitchen and luggage a bit of a chore but it was doable. Also, Susan was *always* prompt in her responses and worked immediately to address any concerns we had. Thank you, Susan! Would love to come back and stay here again!!

Utterly unique

What surprises first-time visitors to the western Lake Michigan shore is the towering sand dunes, tall enough to rival those in the Outer Banks of North Carolina. But western Michigan is a much more verdant region than the seashore, and over time, the forest has overgrown the inland dunes. This house takes full advantage of that setting. Sprawling over five distinct levels, it climbs from the base of a steep, ancient dune into the treetops, with abundant full-length windows and decks to make the most of its architectural drama. Yet the magic of its mid-century design is that it so perfectly compliments, rather than competes, with its setting. The home's stark lines and exposed maple frame the views, the flowers, the ferns and mature trees and make them, rather than itself, the focal point. Yet this is no shack in the woods. A flight up from the entryway is a study and a storage room for beach gear, with balcony. A level above is a landing equipped with a small sitting area -- a quiet getaway in a forest-floor setting. Up yet another flight is a library, TV and game room, and a master bedroom -- each with its own balcony -- plus two more adult bedrooms and a pair of bunk rooms for children, each sleeping four in built-in beds, with floor-to-ceiling windows looking directly into the middle level of the beech-oak-maple forest. It's like something out of the "Swiss Family Robinson" -- a perfect adventure for any child. Up another flight is a second landing, this one larger than the first and with more seating and dramatic, elevated views. At the top is the expansive living/dining area, with the main master bedroom and a graciously equipped island kitchen -- no dull vacation home knives and mismatched china here. A deck in the treetops wraps around three sides of the house and gives access the top of the dune, where black squirrels and woodpeckers frolic. There is a top-of-the-line gas grill and abundant outdoor seating and dining areas. Throughout, the decor is perfect -- and perfectly understated. Just four of us shared this ethereal retreat, but the house could have easily accommodated three times as many without feeling overcrowded. Add in the nearby private beach, easy access via car or bike to charming downtown Holland and the resort communities of Saugatuck, Douglas and Fennville, and you have the best of just about everything. It's a place you'll never stop talking about. Enjoy!

Beautiful Treehouse near the beach

We gathered family for the first time since Covid, and had a great time in this peaceful spot, situated in the woods, but steps from the beach. The stairs can be challenging while moving in, but once we were settled, we found the space to be perfect for our group. There was plenty of space for everyone to be on their own or come together. The kitchen is well stocked to cook meals together. The views from the balconies are fantastic. Would highly recommend.

If you like the beach and the woods, then this is your spot! Clean, unique mid-century modern home in the wooded dunes neighborhood Of Macatawa. Lots of windows private decks, and wrap-around upper deck with lake views. A very a short walk down the path to the private neighborhood beach. This home was stocked with everything you need. My kids refer to this house as the “Cullen” house from The Twilight movie. We would stay here again.

Amazing Treetop Hideaway!

The home was every bit as unique and special as imagined. All-around an amazing place. I highly recommend. The views from all the decks were endless. Easy walk to the beach. Well equipped kitchen. Nice workspace (if needed). A few suggestions for future enhancements: the house could use another bathroom on the main living floor (five bedrooms share one bathroom). It also would be nice to have a washing machine on a lower level.

Larger than the photos show! sleeps 16+ if you count the Aero bed. Wrap-around decks. Many stair steps, but weren't a problem for us. Access to a semi-private beach was a bonus. Parking was REALLY limited to four medium vehicles. Ten people in our group: age 6-73.

Perfect Weekend in Holland

My husband and I were there to celebrate our 40th anniversary with our sons and their families. This was the perfect spot. The architecture of the home and the views from the living area and surrounding deck were spectacular. There was ample space for the 8 of us, and, even though there are many stairs, it did not detract from our enjoyment. The house is fully stocked from the kitchen with everything you might need to the added touch of beach towels, beach chairs, and toys. The living area was comfortable and welcoming when we were all together, and the multiple other rooms allowed for privacy when calling it a night or needing a space to relax. Our only regret is that we didn't have a few extra days to enjoy all this house has to offer.

We loved this beach house in the trees

We loved the location and setting of this house by the beach but up on a dune surrounded by forest. The retro-modern architecture and furnishings were super cool, and the views of the woods and the lake were great. Only two caveats: (1) There are lots of stairs inside this house - if you can't go up and down stairs then this is not the house for you. (2) If you want more than the broadcast networks on the TV then make sure you bring your own Netflix/Prime/ESPN+/etc. logins for the smart TV (there are no cable channels). We loved it and would definitely go here again!

Our goal was a large home with gathering space for our family of 12 to be together for first time in months due to pandemic. Home was great for this! Another great Mac trip

Great house, plenty of room for our group of 5 couples with some kids. Kitchen is great for cooking, nice big table for dinner, and I’m just impressed with the water pressure alone! Not to mention the location, great beach just a little walk down the hill. Would not be great if you have a problem with stairs, but otherwise top notch.

Great spot for extended family

Our kids and their kids loved this great treehouse. Plenty of spots for small groups and great space for the whole fam of 13 to eat and celebrate together. The beach was a short walk away. The steps we read about in the reviews helped to shape us up. The only bummer was having to carry groceries to the 4th floor kitchen. But, once there the kitchen was great and well outfitted.

Magical Treehouse

We had a wonderful stay at the Treehouse. The house itself is beautiful, spacious, and well kept. For a larger group, there is plentiful space for dining, resting, and playing. The kitchen and BBQ were large and inviting to prepare meals. The trees and neighborhood provided privacy while allowing easy access to a beautiful private beach within walking distance. We loved our stay!

We loved staying in this house on a hill! It was beautiful, clean, and walking distance to the beach. We had a girls family and friends weekend and it was just what we needed (relaxing). The only thing we needed clarification on was correct gate and door codes when we checked in, which were incorrect from the website. Other than that it couldn't have been more perfect and we would love to rent again.

Beautiful View

Rented the property for Memorial Day weekend family gathering. Lots of open space, wrap around deck, and lots of windows with a beautiful view of nature and Lake Michigan. The private community is super cute for walking.
