A lovely place with great staff and clean rooms. Blackout curtains, a hotter shower, and a newer mattress would have made this a five star experience.

The Big Sandy Resort located right on the lake with a great view. We stayed here for one night and Ashley at the front desk, who was personable and helpful, made it a really good experience.

Very nice place - just starting out for Summer. Very clean and staff were perfect. Only issues were maybe not having hotel rooms ready: TV did not work in room, coffee not out at 8AM in morning (no pot in room), etc. Bar and food were nice to have. Lake access was questionable as hotel stay apparently could not dock boat - cabled off to villa owners/renters only??? Maybe would be nice to inform people staying in advance how to access lake, what is up with TV, etc. I would come back some day.

What a hidden gem that’s a little off the beaten path. I was looking for a last minute place to stay near Rice Lake wildlife refuge and a room was available. The lodge room was above the bar, and we took advantage of the bar and then the pool area, so there was never a noice issue. The pool area was one of the cleanest I think I’ve ever seen. All the staff from the front desk to the bar was super friendly and helpful

Everything was clean and orderly. The room was smaller than a hotel room. More like a bedroom. The bed was very soft which for me was very uncomfortable. I had trouble turning on the television. After doing some troubleshooting I called the front desk and got voicemail. It said the pool and hot tub were closed due to construction. It also said they would call me back. They called an hour later and came up immediately. She got the tv on. After she left I still couldn’t get the remote to work and finally figured out that it was set up for voice commands and most of the buttons were useless. Anyway, while I was walking down a hallway I saw the pool and noticed people swimming. It was evening the day before I checked out so I didn’t get to use the pool. I was able to relax, though so I did accomplish what I went for.

An adjoining room made for less privacy, no daily cleaning, had to ask for fresh wash clothes. The lodge was very nice.
