Excellent hotel close proximity to all facilities

Pros: Excellent customer service, staff were so helpful, cleanliness / comfortable room and excellent pool / gym facilities for all ages.
Cons: Nothing
Location: Excellent location; close to city, markets, shops, restaurants, cafes, bars, etc. Able to catch trams, trains, walk and see street performers everyday
Excellent customer service, staff were very helpful and accomodating to assist you at all times. The hotel pool / gym facilities were terrific for all ages, room cleanliness was excellent and the room was exactly as indicated on website. Also the restaurant had an excellent food selection for breakfast and dinner if you decided to eat there and pricing was very reasonable.

Can't get a better location!

Pros: Location, staff, location, room facilities, location, convenience of parking next door, location.
Cons: Lobby needs sprucing up - poor street appeal. And having connector plates hanging off the wall with cables showing is a no-no! (not power at least)
Location: Very central - half a block from the busiest street in Melbourne, Swanston Street. So many eating choices on Swanston.
Room was a nice size, and it was nice to have the obvious needs catered for - iron & ironing board, coffee and tea facilities, fridge, hair dryer, shampoo etc. So often hotels go cheap on that, and you have to go shopping when you'd rather be sightseeing. Staff were friendly and helpful. We had a high floor which meant no city noise, so our experience was great! Would definitely recommend!

Great location, great service

Pros: Location, amenities, service
Cons: I cannot think of anything.
Location: It is centrally located, with loads of restaurants and things to do nearby.
This hotel is located right in the middle of Melbourne's CBD, and is easy to access from Kings Cross Station. It offered a comfortable room with all the amenities right in the middle of the city. If I come back to Melbourne, this would be my first choice of hotel.

Very good value indeed. Fabulous location.

Good size clean room and very comfortable bed. No complaints. Hotel very tired but being renovated. A bit of a rabbit warren so beware if you have trouble walking or with steps to ask for easy access room. Evening dining very disappointing. Cold food and very harassed staff. Breakfasts ok, typical buffet. For price, location and room would definitely recommend.

Good price, but not worth it!

Great location in Melbourne, but we would not stay here again. The lobby is about as nice as it gets. Our room had no dresser and was barely big enough for the bed. No microwave, no dishes, 2 lights didn't work, the TV only had 5 channels and most didn't work half the time (skips, pauses, lost audio, etc.). We picked it because we thought its age would give it character -- really it just gave it a century's worth of grime and dirt. The carpets in hallways were dirty, the walls were yellowed with dirt, the hot tub was lukewarm at all times at best, the pool was incredibly small. To be fair, they were doing renovations, but overall it just felt dirty. Was not nearly as good as our hotel in Sydney (that we paid less for!).

Not fancy, but clean and central, central, central!

I stayed here for 10 days in January of 2007. The rooms were clean & comfortable and the staff very courteous and helpful. This hotel has been around for many years and enlarged piecemeal over that time. To management's credit, renovations are underway as parts of the place are showing their age. Its location is stellar, being right in the center of the Business District and convenient to everything downtown. If you don't mind staying at a place with some ""character"" this hotel is hard to beat. Prices are very reasonable.

Avoid this hotel at all costs!

If you truly enjoy staying in a dump that reminds you of the Ghetto, then this is your place. It is dirty, smelly, and just down right terrible. I wouldn't leave my dog there, let alone myself. Take my advice, pay the extra and stay at a nice hotel.
