Other guests have tended to take a “get what you pay for” approach. Of course there’s merit in that but it’s not a reason to downplay the poor condition of the property.
All public areas are dirty and neglected. The elevator is filthy and shabby. All hallway walls badly scuffed by cleaners’ caddies.
Like others, we had some faults that the owners are too lazy to repair, notably the bathroom extraction fan and a toilet that runs for several minutes after being flushed. There was no shelf for toiletries or even a towel rail.
On the inside of the bathroom door, in addition to years of dust and grime on the vent, there was some sort of deposit, presumably of human origin, that had never been cleaned.
The room had frosted windows so we had no idea what the weather was doing.
It was, as others have mentioned, very noisy outside.
On the plus side, the bed was comfortable, pillows tolerable. Kettle and toaster. Staff were pleasant. Wifi with no password required. Great location right in the heart of the city. But certainly no evidence of the “garden” in the name of the place.
