VERY disappointing. I have stayed in several Hilton properties and this was probably the worst one ever. Small rooms, jam packed and everything else you would expect in a hotel was not there. Was not quiet, temperature was all over the place( One night it roasted me out and next night the room could not get warm) Temp was set on 70 degrees. No microwave or fridge. The little things are not focused on there (The awning outside the side entrance was in positions that as you walk down the sidewalk you get soaking wet. The front desk was the only positive thing. The girl who checked me in was pleasant and with a smile at all times.

HARRY Potter Stay

Pros: quietness
Cons: hotel restauarant could stay open later
Location: AWESOME location to Port Authority, Penn Station and Grand Central Station to to mention 5Th Ave.

New York Doubletree

Pros: Great staff, always met with a smile, very clean, pleasant surroundings.
Cons: Serious improvement to the sound insulation, fixing the air conditioning fan, and figuring out a solution to the elevators
Location: Close to Times Square, Central Park, Javitis Center is a couple blocks walk away, and beyond the Center is the park that runs all along the shore.
The hotel was clean and very convenient for attending the Javitis Center, my main reason for being in New York. The room was pleasant, the staff very friendly and responsive. The in room safe was large enough for my laptop, tablet, kindle, purse, random other things, the largest in room safe I've seen. Everything worked, the bed was comfortable. The biggest drawbacks to this hotel are the elevators, which are ridiculous, and the lack of sound insulation. The outside insulation was okay, but there appears to be none between the rooms, I could hear conversations being held inside other hotel rooms, across the hall (I was behind the elevator shaft, down a short hallway and I could still hear across the hallway) with my door closed. Sleeping was difficult with people slamming doors, and a normal conversation outside your room sounding like it was right next to you. It explains why the air conditioner fan was so loud--it has to be an attempt to drown out all the other noise. The elevators are tiny, there are only 3 of them for guest use, and it frequently takes 2-3 tries before you can actually get onto one going down. There is a staircase, which oddly does not connect to the lobby, and since I was on the 14th floor, I was willing to go down the stairs, I wasn't going to go up the stairs.

The New York Adventure

Apparently this hotel has only been open for a month, according to one of the bellmen. Clearly, they should have waited for the opening to get everyone on the same page...good service. When I went to my room upon arrival, I noticed the carpet had not been vacuumed. Since it was late, I decided to address it the following day. Again, after a long day of sightseeing, I came back to the room to find again it hadn't been vacuumed. I called for a housekeeping supervisor to come see it which she did. She immediately sent a maid with a shopvac and no attachments to vacuum with the hose only. The next two days the carpet was again not cleaned. On the first day I asked 4 different people for a toothbrush, I never got one. They have 4 elevators, one of which was dedicated to the rooftop bar. There were huge lines and long waits for the other three. I was there during the recent blizzard. The walk was not salted and freed from ice following the storm in the morning...9:00! The one good thing I have to say is their bellmen work very hard and would even go down to the next corner to hail cabs for us.
