I had to mop the floors myself with a spare towel and soap, that’s how unclean the floors were. A fuse blew … just from having the lights on. Holes in the blankets.

I spilt a bit of water on the floor and wiped it up with a towel from the bathroom, it was gross, had I known before sleeping I would not have been able to sleep, and wouldn't have stayed, you get what you pay for

My family and I have been going to Caswell‘s for over 45 years. However, I’m afraid this will be our last trip. The property has gone down hill so much that is at the point of neglect. Many of the cabins are being lived in by Sunridge residence, and so we didn’t know if we were going to be feeling like this was a holiday or being in somebody’s backyard. The cabin that we stayed in was clean enough, but considering there are a few hotel options in this area an investment and care in the property and it’s legacy would have made everything better.

On the plus side, this hotel is right on the lake with some watercraft to borrow for free (bring your own lifejackets though, as there was just a small selection). Our cabin had a nice little deck and very good A/C. And it was reasonably priced. Unfortunately, that’s where the positives end. The exterior of the hotel is very run down and unkempt, with weeds and peeling paint everywhere. Inside, the room was better, but we did have rusty lamps and a broken mirror, and finding a mouse trap under our bathroom sink when looking for toilet paper wasn’t much fun. We were there for two days with no housekeeping service so our family had to make do with three extremely flimsy towels. Our TV wouldn’t work unless we turned it on from behind (took us awhile to figure that out; it had nothing to do with the remote batteries). And the wifi was just non-existent. I asked at reception and they proceeded to write down the password all over again even as I told them what it was. No, my entire family didn’t input it wrong! The cabins/rooms down one side of property clearly are for long-term renters. Some we met were very nice. But a couple blasted music all day outside. Unfortunately, the hotel options aren’t plentiful in this area, which is to be expected, but this place is in desperate need of some upgrades. It has so much unused potential.

Stayed 2 nights: Aug 6 to 8 2025. You get what you pay for, its half the price of other resorts in busy summer time. Based on other reviews I had an idea of aged and outdated building but being gross is not what i was expecting. They don't even bother to clean the main entrance full off spider webs, ants and dead mosquitoes welcome you with fresh scent of old boots as you enter for check in. Then in the room.... Door was so hard to open / close, again that old rustic smell, bed sheets had stains , blankets were stained and were gross. They had a weired smell. Pillows were joke, very small, bring ur own pillow and blanket if your are clean freak. Bring ur own soap. But the only thing that overcame all these was the lake, room was right on lake the main reason we chosed this place, it was beautiful, clean beach, free canoe and paddle boats, life jackets, kids park is right beside it. Very quiet and peaceful, lake is not deep, you can go far into it just by walking, water wasn't cold, perfect. Bbq grills are there bring your own propane tank. I did bbq right on lake was best experience. I mean i would go there again only if they update their beddings. Please management. You can do better. And clean your entrance please. That kills the whole mood.
