Bring your family to our quaint, sleepy lake front home on the desirous North shore of 6000 acre Lake Weir in Ocklawaha, FL where Ma Barker had her famous shootout with the FBI in 1935! "Edith Ott's Cottage" (vintage 1936) is perfectly located 10 miles from The Villages, 14 miles from Ocala, 55 miles from the University of Florida, 70 miles from Disney and 90 minutes from either coast. Sun rises and sunsets will be enjoyed from a perfect back deck overlooking the 100' white sandy beach and is shaded all day beneath huge live oaks. Want to enjoy same from indoors? The bonus porch is heated and air-conditioned and offers spectacular lake / beach views from its three walls of windows. Updated kitchen, washer, dryer, cable tv & wifi. 3 bedrooms (2 w/ lake view and master opens onto deck) and 2 baths. Swimming, fishing, kayaking, water skiing, wake boarding, paddle boarding and more right in your back yard. Come enjoy the relaxing, laid back lake life! This is NOT a duplex. It simply has separate entry doors & is a "split plan".

Good location, weird stay

From the start it was kind of weird having a (random man) walking around the property and garage without any introduction as to who he was on 5/23, then 5/24 we wake up to some “random man” in the front yard near our vehicles and proceed to the back of the house and started cleaning the grass from the lake (where we planned on hanging out all day) and cut tons of grass from the lake and piled it on the shoreline
 eventually found out that the random man was the owner ?? He left all the grass on shoreline and proceeded to go away. Found glass, barb wire in water so be careful when stepping.. very odd as well that you can’t adjust the temperature of the ac/heat for a comfortable stay..(signs up saying you’re not allowed to) and the washer AND the dryer didn’t work at all
 on the last night of our stay we were emailed to take all our trash/garbage with us because the dump was going to be close on 5/26
 very odd ? We brought friends and family over to visit only and he was irritated about that and emailed about that as well
 if you like your every move being watched the whole time you’re renting a house then this would be the right rental for you! Just really weird to have the owner walking around the property every single day of stay.. very nice location and swimming area but will NEVER rent this old house again.

Ott Cottafe

This was a 4th stay at the Ott Cottage. Kent and Dana are great hosts and very accommodating. The cottage location is very convenient to the lake with great views of Lake Weir. It nice to be able to launch a boat the nearby boat ramp and able to keep the boat in the water at the cottage. We will going back again

The Edith Ott Cottage

Loved this authentic lake cottage. The lake view from the large porch & deck were perfect
sunsets and sunrises both. The cottage is supplied well for your every need and while it is not furnished with every brand new modern items it is indeed very comfortable. We cooked all our meals except 2 during a 10 day stay. I will most likely return.

Piece of Nostalgia!

Enjoyed our stay on beautiful Lake Wier! Classic and nostalgic feel to the home. Took us back in time to that old Florida tranquil life. Especially loved the huge magnificent moss draped oak trees! Very convenient location for us.

Nice location

So good stuff first, it was in a good location and close to the boat ramp. Plenty of parking. Right off the lake, probably would have been great for jet skis to come right up to the house. It was a very old house and the air conditioning was an issue, you're not allowed to make it lower than 75 so it was fairly hot. The biggest issue we had with it was the bugs, there were ants coming in the window. They were in the carpet, on the ceiling. They weren't fire ants, and I'm a Floridian so ants don't usually bother me as long as they aren't fire ants, but that's not what I expect when I rent a house. It was nice enough but we won't be returning.

Lake get away

Very friendly host! Cute little home, but very dark. Sunroom was nice!! Unfortunately, it rained a lot, so we didn’t get to enjoy the wonderful lake as much as we wanted The house could use more user friendly tv’s, or at least instructions. DVD player was there but no dvd’s. Master tv only got 2 stations. A few new amenities for the bathrooms would be nice also

Great property, right on lake w tie ups for our boat. Beautiful view of lake. 3rd bedroom was at least 10 degrees warmer than rest of house which made sleeping less comfortable.

Short getaway

Very nice but older home in great neighborhood with beautiful views at lakeside. A short drive to launch boat. Great host. We had problem with frig not cooling. Called & he took care of it while we were out boating on the lake. Can’t beat that for customer service!

Cute Lakeside Cottage

Very nice property with a well stocked kitchen and great views of Lake Weir. We also really liked the sunroom and the split bedroom layout! It was a tad bit hard to find the right gate in the dark, so try to arrive during the daytime the first day.

Excellent Hosts, Beautiful View and Great Lake house

This was our 4th stay at Ott Cottage. The deck and front porch overlooking lake is fabulous. Accommodations were super. Excellent lake for boating, swimming and fishing. Everything provided and could ask for a better view.
