Email that I sent: Dear Ellen I am writing to formally raise a serious concern regarding my experience at your hotel during check-in on at approximately 10:30pm last night. The front desk clerk who checked me in was visibly ill. When I asked directly whether he was sick while he was handling my credit card and room key he confirmed that he was. I found this extremely disturbing and careless, particularly in a hospitality environment where staff are in direct contact with guests and their personal items. This is not only unsanitary, but shows a complete lack of consideration for guest health and safety. Hotels have a responsibility to ensure that staff who are unwell are not placed in guest facing roles where they can expose others. Unfortunately, I woke up this morning feeling ill, which makes this situation even more concerning. I expect this matter to be taken seriously. Why a visibly sick employee was permitted to work the front desk? What health and hygiene protocols your hotel has in place for staff? This experience was unacceptable, and I look forward to your prompt response.
