Loved this secure family/handicap friendly resort with excellent food and service! The rooms were spacious and comfortable. The only negative is that check in is at 4pm and even though we checked in earlier in the day, our room wasn’t ready until 5pm. The staff was extremely friendly and accommodating.

Family Friendly fun

Incredible family friendly experience. Water park is great. Palomino island is accessible and fun. Great Parrots and a fun quest for kids to explore and learn about the hotel. It is massive but the experience is worth it.

They had cockroaches in the rooms! The service was horrible. They wouldn't move me to another room and went to spray pesticides in the middle of the night. When they finally moved me to another room, they gave me a king-size bed for a family of four.

Overall great, but room for service improvement

Overall stay was largely positive. The property offers a lot of dining options and a ton of amenities (loved the private island). A few staff members were friendly, but I was treated rudely and unwelcome at the security gate and didn’t receive a warm greeting at the front desk. We had just stayed at two other San Juan-based resorts and had very welcoming experiences, so this felt disappointing. The property has a luxurious feel with incredible views.

I booked a superior room, which is higher in price and received another room farther away. Room had issues with the door locks. The bracelet to access the farthest room did not work. Ordered food for room service took forever to arrive, order arrived incomplete, cold and with poor quality. The ocean view and nature around saved the staying.

It is a beautiful resort and we did enjoy our stay. Let me list the cons first and then we will end with some positive points. 1. Please check where the room you are booking is located and be sure you are okay with that location. EC is a sprawling resort and our room was in the Marina area. There was construction going on nearby and it was a long walk, flights of stairs (depending on which floor your room is in), or a very rickety elevator (which was out of order on a couple of occasions), then a funicular ride (great views from the funicular though), then another long corridor, then yet another set of elevators to get to the main hotel lobby area where all the restaurants, bars, shops and everything else is located, or if you want to get to the parking to leave the resort. Needless to say, this got very old very fast. 2. The funiculars were also out of order on a couple of occasions. Thankfully there are 2. 3. The staff. This is where EC has major room for improvement. Most of them did not appear to want to be there or do their job. Of course there were exceptions but on the whole, starting from waitresses to hostesses to the lady who checked us out on our last day, everyone was very lacking in the kind of behavior/professionalism that would make a guest’s experience good in any way. Everyone in our group felt the same way on this point. 3. The food at the resort is hit or miss. Of these the Italian restaurant Sicilian was Olive Garden grade food at higher prices. Bono wa
