Booked the king sweet. When i checked in was told they only had a double queen room so i settled for it. Got in the room it was basic. Sat on bed it was hard and uncomfortable. The refrigerator didnt work. Told front desk. The next morning told front desk was checking out due to the reasons. Was told they didnt know how to refund me a day stay that gm would contact me and 2 days later hadnt heard from the gm and still charged me 2 days with me just staying one night.mad as heck

Hotel is nicely located on a quiet street with grass and trees. But, it is dated with basic amenities though nice sheets and towels. Front desk person was brand new and had no training. This website had not processed my payment and the young man didn’t know what to do. He kept calling us and basically made a mess of our check in. I would probably not stay here again.

I was in town for a concert at the casino. Everything was very nice..service, cleanliness, and breakfast. However the need was old worn and uncomfortable. Needs a new better mettres.

It was clean. Not dirty or messy in room or bathroom. Clean in other areas. The staff was very welcoming and kind. They acknowled us entering or leaving. The dining area was very small and could get crowded easily. No problems. Minor issue...plug to tub had no chain or way to stay open, so it had to be put to the side to shower. Only stayed one night due to electrical failure in area.

Christmas Travel

Had paperwork ready when I checked in less than 20 minutes after I booked the room. Thought the place was deserted when I drove up as there were no cars in the lot. Turns out just very few customers on a Thursday night. Great breakfast spread even though I swear I think I was the only guest.

The hotel is easy to find and conveniently right next to a drug store and grocery store. It seemed to be very pet friendly. Unfortunately, the good news ends there. The hotel was run down, not very clean, and dark. The courtesy bottles (lotion, shampoo, conditioner) in our room were half-used. The wifi didn't work, the instructions in the book were for the Comfort Inn, and no one answered when we tried to call the front desk. We chose the hotel because it advertised free breakfast, but there was no hot breakfast because of Christmas. It wasn't *awful*, but there were just so many missed chances to make a pleasant experience for guests.

Fine for one night

We spent one night as we were visiting Shepardstown. The room was clean and the bed was fine. My back did not hurt in the morning from the bed. The breakfast food was ok. I thought the place was fine but my wife was not as content as I was.

Clean, but dated hotel, great if you have pet

Hotel was a bit dated, but clean and it worked well for us for a 1 night stay. We had our little dog with us and we had no issues. The comfort of the beds was fair but ok for 1 night. The hotel is next to a pharmacy, McDonalds, grocery store, etc and only about a mile outside of Shepherdstown so very convenient. The continental breakfast was about average quality.

I shared the room w/ two queen sized beds. There was a desk, chest of drawers, a separate television stand. It was cramped. The closet door was off its rails. The bathroom sink was separate from the toilet and shower/tub. So it was part of the sleeping area. I didn’t like that as it contributed to the room feeling cramped. The HVAC was a wall unit which had a wet rug under it which made the room smell musty. The breakfast that was included looked unappetizing.

One night layover to visit family. Property is older but mostly clean; mildew in the shower stall. Staff was very pleasant and accommodating. We'd stay there again.

Nice facility and clean. Very good location with quick access to the university and the town. Staff was friendly. Biggest problem was the AC was very noisy and didn’t work well the second day there.

The staff was friendly and helpful when we checked in. Our room and bathroom was clean smoke free. The hostel is close to all of the attractions in the Shepherdstown area. I would definitely stay here again!

Their web site lists pet fee as 10.00 and was 10.00 in previous stays. They charged us a 20.00 pet fee thier excuse was their web site is out dated. Opened the door to the room and was hit with a damp musty odor. We will go elsewhere for future visits to the area

More hot water needed

Our stay was fine up until needing that hot shower in the morning. By about 9:30 on a weekend day, there was no hot water. A call to the desk did not either solve the problem or offer any discount for our stay.
