Looking for an eerie atmosphere in one of the most haunted cities in America? This hauntingly historic 4 bedroom Spanish Macabre-Style, Century-Old Home in Saint Augustine is locally well-known as inhabited by spirits. The spirit of a young boy is said to dwell in an upstairs bedroom closet where his wall-scribblings and footprint still appear. We were disappointed with this property. While it is clearly an older home, the description of it being âsomewhat upgradedâ feels generous. There were visible holes in walls, floors, and ceilings throughout the house, with tapestries used to cover some wall damage. Cleanliness was a huge issueâbathtubs did not appear thoroughly cleaned, and the hand soaps were diluted with water. We also experienced a noticeable number of flies and bugs inside the house and a musty, moldy smell. When we arrived, both outdoor trash cans were already full from a previous stay, leaving us with no place to dispose of our trash. The home is located on a very busy intersection, and traffic noise was loud making it difficult to sleep. We agree with other reviewers that the surrounding area felt a bit sketchy, are untidy. and more updated and secure door locks would have helped improve our sense of security. The outdoor "game room" area was nice, with the pool table and dart room were a fun addition, it would be much nicer if there were blinds, curtains or drapes as the entire room is exposed with plex glass windows. Overall, the property did not meet the standard we were expecting based on the listing.
We had a wonderful time! The theme was really spooky for Halloween and the house had so much character. We all loved the aesthetic of it and the creepy old house vibe! We especially enjoyed the sunroom with pool table, darts and TV. Definite downsides were the amount of homeless around the property, one of which approached us when we arrived. Toilet in half bath does not function properly. And there was definitely a lack of basic supplies you would expect to already be there, for instance hand soaps that were almost empty or not present at all. There were no extra towels or washcloths and some bathrooms didn't have any at all. No kleenex and a small supply of toilet paper. There were no extra blankets or pillows for added comfort. We did end up having to buy a bath mat, towels, soap, Kleenex, etc.Other than that, the location was close to downtown which was perfect and the house was large enough to comfortably accommodate 7 of us. It most definitely shows it's age in being rundown and in need of a lot of repairs but i guess that all adds to the character! Overall we had a great time but if you're looking for something more modern and up to date this isn't it.
It was very fun and spooky. Needed to be swept lots of dead bugs and a/c drips while using the restroom. Tap water did not seem ok to drink. The decor was A tho. Maybe needs blinds in the game room at night. Living room was perfect for haunted entertainment.
