Beautifully restored 1922 craftsman bungalow in a prime Lodi wine tasting area
Bring your family group or friends to this beautiful Ca. bungalow in the heart of Lodi and wine country. This home has been beautifully restored with antiques throughout. This craftsman style bungalow built in 1922 has hardwood floors and wood paneling and is over 2600 sq. ft. There are 3 bedrooms, 2 1/2 baths, a large front room, formal dining room with built in leaded glass sideboard, family/game room, den/office, atrium, and reading nook. The kitchen has been completely remodeled with granite counters but still has the remarkable 1926 Fridgidaire ice box that is perfect for storing wine. The sunny kitchen and dining area is surrounded outside by camelias which are by most of the unique windows that fill the house with natural light. They also allow for beautiful views of the tree lined neighborhood and the park across the way in this prime location. You can also enjoy reading in the cozy nook or the private plant filled atrium. The huge fenced backyard offers a patio for enjoying a cup of coffee or having a group get-together for a barbeque. The patio table seats 8 and there is additional wicker furniture and a picnic table with benches for larger groups. The Merlot Bungalow sits across the street from a popular kids park and is 2 blocks away from downtown Lodi which offers many wine tasting rooms, restaurants, art galleries, shopping and theaters. In addition Lodi offers access to over 80 wineries with award winning wines for your wine tasting pleasure. Also within walking distance is Hutchins Street Square which hosts many events and weddings. You may also want to go to Lodi Lake and nature center with its beautiful park , picnic area and water activities. Near-by is historic Micke's Grove with history museum, zoo, golf, and Japanese Tea Garden. North of Lodi is the skydiving center, airport and restaurant. Just west of Lodi and Lodi Lake is historic Woodbridge.
Lovely property. Both charming and spacious. Kitchen is well appointed minus a toaster. Bedrooms are large and comfortable. Well appointed with good furniture suitable to age of house. A/C runs well which is needed in hot summer months. It would be more efficient if the small gaps were sealed around all windows. My biggest complaints are superficial:1 toilet paper provided is cheap and thin. Bring your own and problem solved. 2 it's across from a park that was busy all day. We enjoyed the noise of kids playing but i know not everyone does3 its in a corner of a fairly busy intersection with 4 way stop. Noise level with cars was moderate to high at times, as people loved to play their bass music super loud when driving, and remember it's a 4 way stop so often times it rattled windows whie waiting theiir turn thru intersection. I really wish I knew the history of the house given how large the propery is for the time it was built. Yard is large, shaded and has lots of seating! Beautiful property!
The house was very nice. It worked out for our group who was in town for a sports tournament, and it was great for our dog with a large, fully fenced yard. The neighborhood is very nice to walk through and there is a great bakery about two blocks away that we walked to every morning. The only drawback there was that there tends to be a fair amount of loud traffic, IE big diesel pickups so if you are a very light sleeper make sure to bring ear plugs. But it was definitely not an all night long thing. The house is older so the configuration is a little dated, with just one upstairs bathroom where all the bedrooms are. But it was very clean and organized, lots of towels in all the bags and kitchen. The backyard has a really nice seating area with gas and charcoal grill to choose from.
Perfectly located in town. Walking distance to park, shopping, food, theater. Hutchin Street Square Activities. Beautiful craftsmanship, plenty of room and we all felt like we were at home. Highly recommended.!
The hosts were great with communication and very helpful with suggestions for restaurants and activities. The house was a very spacious and unique older home with a well equipped kitchen. The outdoor patio was a wonderful space and we even had a fire one night. The only negative was the odor in the house when we first got thereâŠit was completely closed up and had a very pungent musty smell. It improved with opening up the house and getting fresh air in. Overall, the house met our needs with our favorite spot being the outdoor patio.
Lovingly restored craftsman is perfect for a holiday family gathering
Just entering the house and admiring all the craftsman details is a delight. Plenty of space for a family to spread out. The kitchen is roomy and well stocked - pots, pans, and room for 2-3 cooks plus a breakfast nook for family members who want to observe and chat. Lovely location in town. The downtown area is walkable and the grocery stores for last minute food runs are a 5 minute drive.
Great place to stay for family wedding we were attending. Very close to a park for our grandkids. Close enough to walk to downtown for coffee in the mornings. We were welcomed with snacks and beautiful flowers! Charming older bungalow home.
Maurie's home has been lovingly restored to its grandeur & the bedrooms are super cozy upstairs. Walkability is ideal. Backyard is huge! Very spacious for a large (or small!) group with room for everyone. Delighted to have stayed in a piece of history.
We were three small families and had plenty of room for everyone. There are several downstairs gathering rooms along with a large dining room and a fully stocked kitchen. Itâs a lovely neighborhood and parking was easy. The Internet was spotty but we didnât ask for any help so maybe that couldâve been fixed. The clean up/check out process was minimal which we appreciated.
This house is perfect for those who want the flavor of downtown Lodi, and also would like to relax in a quiet and beautiful garden. There is a park across the street for families, and the house is perfectly equipped. There are 3 bedrooms upstairs. The office can be a 4th. and it is downstairs.
Little touches like fresh flowers, a bottle of Lodi zin, snacks and decorative pumpkins and gourds were so thoughtful and appreciated. It was lovely spending time out back at the table under the trees. Kitchen was immaculate and totally adequate.
We rented this home for a Church choir that played at our Youth Retreat for the weekend. They loved how close it was to the church, the downtown and eateries. Would definitely book again!
This was a perfect house to stage my wedding engagement celebration with a few of my closest girlfriends to have brunch, enjoy a day of wine tasting around Lodi, order Guantonio's for dinner, and play card games. Many memories, laughs, and stories of the weekend were all encased in this great house, which we couldn't stop exploring and wondering about the time when it was built. So many historical elements of interest and character while having the functionality of modern day amenities. And the kitchen items, including knives, dishes, and cutting boards, were of quality. So often VRBO's have cheap kitchenware. This house had a fully stocked kitchen that fit all of our serving needs. We won't hesitate to stay here again when our needs find us in Lodi!
We had an excellent stay. The house is in a great location close to downtown Lodi. We were in town for graduation and the back yard made a great location for our family to hang out together. I would highly recommend
We very much enjoyed our stay at the Merlot Bungalow. Beautifully and comfortably furnished with everything you could possibly need. Our family group of 8 had plenty of room to relax and reconnect. The downstairs den/bedroom with attached bath was especially handy for one with mobility challenges. Relaxing oasis in the backyard. This home is wonderfully restored with all the quirks of an older home intact. Yes, the street traffic can be noisy, but the location is perfect. Terrific hosts and the welcome wine and cheese gave us a delicious start!
We only wish we could have stayed longer.
Really enjoyed our stay here. House is in a perfect location near downtown. All the bedrooms are comfortable, downstairs living area is large with multiple rooms such as parlor, living room, dining room etc. Backyard has a nice seating area with outdoor furniture. Would definitely come again.
Maurie and Keith were lovely hosts, and they shared some terrific recommendations on the local scene when we arrived. Merlot Bungalow is cozy and well located with all the comforts of home. Excellent location and comfortable home. Street/train noise was a little louder than expected but some white noise machines took care of it. Great find!
We enjoyed our stay at Merlot Bungalow very much. Traffic was little busy at this corner of downtown, but with the air conditioning running, it helped to baffle some of the sound during the evening hours. We particularly enjoyed all of the beautiful antiques inside and the patio outside at night. We will definitely look at Merlot Bungalow for our next visit to Lodi.
We had the best time in that adorable house! The house was beautiful and so clean! The owners were so kind and made the check in and out process so easy! Canât wait to come back!
This is the 3rd time we have stayed at this property. It is perfect for our family. So clean and well equiped. How sweet to get bottles of wine and sweets upon arrival. The owners are so responsive. I can't say enough good things about this rental...that's why we have stayed here 3 times! Thanks.
Lovely old home with beautiful original workmanship
The house was fabulous for six friends we got together for a long needed gathering⊠It was spread out enough for a very comfortable stay.. I wouldâve given it 5 stars but the street noise knocked it down to 4.
