I arrived at the hotel at approximately 1:30 AM and asked the front desk if rooms were available. I was told yes and proceeded to book the room through Expedia, as it was slightly cheaper. Due to a flight delay at previous airport for over 14 hours caused by a technical issue, I only needed the room for a few hours, had layover for 7 hours before next flight and needed to shower and rest before an early morning flight. I was traveling with two exhausted children. I begged for help. Upon attempting to check in, I was informed that check-in was not until 3:00 PM and that I would not be allowed early access. I explained the situation and clarified that I would be checking out by 7:00 AM, but was told that because it was after midnight, I needed to have booked the previous day. Unfortunately, Expedia did not provide that option at the time of booking. Because the reservation was made through a third-party site, I was unable to receive a refund. The policy was enforced without any flexibility, and the interaction with the front desk staff was dismissive and lacked empathy, especially given the circumstances and the fact that rooms were available. This experience was extremely disappointing and left me stranded late at night in a foreign country with two children, despite having paid for a room. I would encourage the hotel to review its late-night check-in policies and staff training to ensure more compassionate handling of similar situations in the future.
