Ayung Resort is the most relaxing resort. Check in was a breeze, welcome drink and cold towel on arrival. We were fortunate to be upgraded from a Valley Pool Villa to Royal Rainforest Villa - what a treat! Breakfast was included in our room charge along with free afternoon tea in the Lounge from 4-6pm. Meals at Ayung Restaurant or via room service were superb.

My husband and I stayed at Ayung Resort Ubud for 3 nights and wished we could have stayed longer. We had booked a Valley Pool Villa, but were kindly upgraded to a Royal Rainforest Villa, which was a lovely surprise. The villa was extremely spacious, making us feel tiny. The swimming pool and gardens were immaculately maintained. We used the outdoor pool daily and spent most of our time at the resort, visiting the restaurant three nights in a row. We also tried the complimentary afternoon tea service twice, which was a nice touch because we never experience that in the U.S. The restaurant server, Gosenadi, told us that the chef, a Ubud native, had won a cooking competition in Singapore. It makes sense because his food was way better than what we normally get from a lot of restaurants in U.S. We mainly tried Balinese cuisine, and my husband enjoyed the barbecue pork ribs recommended by Gosenadi and Adreani. I loved the beetroot salad, and the fresh vegetables, which my husband, who grew up on a farm, also praised. Gosenadi informed us that all produce served at Ayung was locally grown. We used the spa, which was reasonably priced and staffed by professional and kind therapists. After our long flights from Chicago (took two days to get there), we needed a relaxation massage. Our room had excellent WiFi, allowing me to work on my laptop without issues. We loved the staff at Ayung Resort the most; they were always smiling and accommodating. We felt treated like royalty.

Stay here if you want a relaxing visit near Ubud. Takes an hour and half from the airport and 30ish minutes from the center of Ubud without traffic. The grounds are beautiful. Everyone is very friendly and helpful. Breakfast was absolutely delicious, ordered a la carte. I had dinner onsite and ordered room service as well. Both meals were delicious and the presentation was beautiful. They offer complimentary tea and small bites in the afternoon. That was enjoyable. I stayed in a room overlooking the smaller pool. The room was basic, but had everything I needed. The only negative was that my room was near the housekeeper room and I could hear them go and out often but I was rarely in my room. I would highly recommend this place and come back and stay in their villas.
