Lake Como offers some of the most striking urban, landscape and architectural gems in the entire Italian peninsula. Among these treasures, Varenna stands out as one of the most appreciated tourist destinations on Lake Como thanks to its wealth of history, art and culture. Villa Monastero and Villa Cipressi are among the most renowned points of interest in the village, with their gardens, enchanting views and original furnishings. Varenna is also the ideal place for a stroll along the lake, the famous historic centre with its characteristic alleys and the Passeggiata degli Innamorati, which connects the ferry terminal with the village. On the promontory overlooking Varenna, you can visit the Castello di Vezio, dating back to the 2nd century BC, from which you can admire a 360-degree panorama. Nature is the frame of this territory and through paths and walks, such as the Greenway dei Patriarchi and the Sentiero del Viandante, it is possible to immerse yourself in the discovery of glimpses and landscapes rich in history. Connected with Menaggio and Bellagio by ferry service, Varenna is also easily accessible from Switzerland thanks to its central location, on the eastern branch of Lake Como.

Location was awesome. It is surrounded by active businesses that start early in the mornings. There was a strong odor the day we checked out as if they sprayed for bugs that morning. Noisy but nice.

2/10 Terrible

Disliked: Check-in, communication, location, listing accuracy
It was too awful to even explain in detail. From the pre check-in, to checkout. I will say a VRBO agent tried to help and an agent at Wonderful Italy did stay on the phone with me for 30 minutes to help me find the property which I was sent the wrong directions for. Never ever again!

Amazing apartment overlooking Lake Como at the Ferry Dock. Great location near ferry dock and a couple blocks to the train station. Two balconies facing the lake, and a large patio in the back with view of mountains. The master bedroom is in the back so you don't hear noise from the front where there are lots of people and the ferry dock. Appreciated the washing machine to wash our clothes before moving to our next destination. Liked the location not being in the center of Varenna which was crowded with tourists even in April. Easy walk along Lover's Walkway to the center of town. Lots of great restaurants within walking distance.
