Stayed before cruise. Shuttle drivers very friendly dropped us off at train as our cruise was from Miami. Front desk also nice. Basic ( free) continental breakfast in lobby. Coffee was available all day. Was a good area if you did not have a car as many restaurants and plaza with many stores within easy walking distance. It is a quiet secluded area with a vacant lot beside the hotel so I felt uncomfortable walking back to hotel alone after dark but there was no issues or people hanging around in the dark so ok if not walking alone. Pool closed for renovations. Nice gym at hotel

They gave me a room right next to the gym. The gym was wall to wall next to my room and their treadmill was broken and I could hear everyone working out. They should not rent that room.

When we first got to the room, it was very warm. The AC had not been running at all.(just know this is in South Florida, where it is very humid year-round) So it took until 4 AM before that room was cooled down. The lamp shades were filthy. It was not as nice as other La Quinta hotels that I have stayed in, but it did its job for us just to spend the night nothing more than that.

The lake view and gazebo area are nice, but the pool area is being renovated and looks like it should be completely redone. Water is hot, water pressure is adequate. The Breakfast "buffet" was a joke. There was no buffet, a couple juices, coffee, toast bagels, and a couple cereals. No eggs (not even the fake ones) no waffles, nothing heated and one toaster with 2 slice slots that don't work, and a line of people waiting to toast whatever and it takes forever to toast. If that is all your breakfast is, it should say Continental NOT Buffet. The elevator is the slowest one I have seen. The rooms are horribly outdated and the furniture is all old. Room smelled like wet worn hockey equipment. The tv remote doesn't adjust the volume so you couldn't even hear the TV. The electrical outlets barely hold what is plugged into them, some plugs just fall out. Overall for what you pay, it should have been HALF that. $123/ night should be more like $65 per night
