Harpers Ferry is a wonderful base for a blend of adventure, history, and nature. Whether youâre into hiking, kayaking, history, or just relaxing, thereâs something for everyone to enjoy in this beautiful, historic area:
1. Mountain Lake Club (distance from house - 3 min drive): Enjoy the 7 acre lake, perfect for a day of fishing and boating or stop by to enjoy food, live music and Karaoke. Dogs allowed. No pass needed to dine at the club.
2. Harpers Ferry Historic District (distance from house - 18 mins): Stroll through the Historic District, with its cobblestone streets, old brick buildings, and charming shops. The district is a step back in time, with preserved 19th-century architecture. The Harpers Ferry Train Station is also a noteworthy stop if you love history and old railways. Feeling adventurous? Harpers Ferry has a haunted past, and there are ghost tours available in the evenings. You can explore the darker side of the town's history, visiting old churches, graveyards, and other eerie spots
3. Appalachian Trail (distance from house - walkable): Runs through Harpers Ferry, and the town is often considered the "psychological halfway point" for thru-hikers.
