I was put in a room that the door looked like it was pried open with a crow bar. There was a gap that you could see the hallway from the inside of the room. The bathrown was dirty although the beds appeared to be changed and clean. When I went and asked for a room change, they moved my room. The new room smelled like it had been freshly cleaned and the door wasn’t broken.

Dirty Rooms

We checked in late our first night, and the first room had ants all over. Alcohol and left over food left in the fridge with the addition of rust inside the fridge. The front desk had us check out 3 other rooms all the same ants and in one room the desk chair was beyond discussing. They couldn't refund us and told us we had to wait till the morning to speak to a manager. Beware this place does not get properly cleaned!!!!

one night business trip

Front Desk staff at check-in was excellent, I very nice young man who was very pleasant. Although the hotel is not that old my room was in need of maintenance. Peeling paint, loose tile in the bathroom and less than spick'n'span conditions. Breakfast was just slightly better than nothing. I arrived for breakfast at 9:00 a.m. (they said breakfast was open until 9:30). I couldn't get the coffee machine to work, and the overall selection was very limited. I found no one to ask for help. I think I would avoid this property in future trips to Kalamazoo . . . but it certainly wasn't awful.

Overall great location, close to where we needed to be. The weather was not great, so the side walks and parking lot were not cleared well. That caused the inside of the lobby to be a bit messy. When I got out of our vehicle I slipped and fell in the parking lot. The person that checked us in was pleasant but didn’t bother standing to greet he was on a stool the entire time. Maybe that is just how it is. When we came down for breakfast there was no fruit, only 2 cups of blueberry yogurt, white egg omelets, cereal and only one coffee maker was working.

Super clean, super quiet, super comfy and super nice staff! We'll stay again. The fresh perked coffee was great, but we didn't hit breakfast, so can't attest to that, but it's an excellent value. The beds and pillows were dreamy!!

The hotel is new and clean, and the front desk staff were friendly and helpful. It's not in the best part of town, and some of the other guests were a little rough around the edges. Also, the walls are very thin, so if you have a very loud guest next door to you as I did, you will hear everything. The pillows are a little too big and it was uncomfortable on my neck but the bed was comfortable. Also, they put body lotion in the body wash dispenser in the shower so I had no soap in the morning, but honest mistake I guess! :)

Convenient location, awful rooms!

Check-in was a disaster. My room was not ready although it had been booked for at least a month or more. They wanted me to switch rooms and give up my king size bed for two double beds because the room was not ready. After 20 minutes of waiting, I finally got in and the smell of their cleaning products was so overpowering it made me physically sick, and I had to leave the room. They opened the door to air it out, and when I came back an hour later, it was STILL overpowering. They had to bring a ventilation fan to the room for the night. Had I not had something to do during that hour I’d havebeen sitting in the lobby, the entire time, waiting for a room that still would not have been ready after an hour, and I would’ve continued to have to either sit in the lobby or just put up with the smell and loud, noisy fan, which is what I did because I wasn’t going to just waste time outside my hotel room when I had things to do and I booked the room for a specific reason and that was to get ready for a very big/important event the next morning. Because of them not being prepared, it put me behind and kept me up late because I could not do what I needed to do when I got there.This hotel is definitely for people that LOVE fluorescent lighting. The entire room had bright white fluorescent lighting. The entire room, bathroom, bedside lights. EVERY light! It was very uninviting and I had to sit in the dark in the evening because the light was so bright. Noise level high. Save your $$$.

This given that this hotel is less than 5 years old. Overall, was very happy with the hotel. Was it perfect? No. Small things though (bathroom sink drained slow, shower head gave low pressure, shower leaked to floor because door didnt close properly, magnetic "Do not disturb" signs when the door wasn't metal, pallets stacked behind front desk). Front desk personnel were very friendly and helpful. Will definitely be booking here again.
