This permitted (STVR # 19-350867) stunning 3 bed/3.5 bath home offers the comfort of a spacious, private home with magnificent ocean views. Come relax and enjoy what we hope you’ll feel is like your home away from home. We have outfitted our home with many extras for the whole family to enhance your stay: a well-stocked high-end kitchen, wine refrigerator, games, beach towels and chairs, toys, floaties, fast wifi, flat screen TVs with AppleTV streaming services and air conditioning in every room are just to name a few.

You will have access to private concierge services to facilitate every aspect of your trip, from purchasing groceries to stock the refrigerator before your arrival, to restaurant recommendations and reservations, and helping arrange activities throughout the island. Our local property manager is available to you 24/7 for any needs that might arise.

Located in the privately gated Kohala Waterfront, you are so close to the ocean that during whale season you not only see them, but can also hear them! The house was remodeled in 2019 and is inside/outside living at its finest. Designer-decorated inside and out, you will be sure to love the fun and comfortable vibe of the WHALE TALE HALE. The beautiful furnishings, original artwork and all modern appointments set this house apart from others like it.

Upon entering the house, enjoy your very own Steinway piano along with guitars, ukuleles, bongos and more fun musical instruments for the whole gang to have a jam session.

The spacious master bedroom suite has over 180 degrees of ocean views which opens out onto the pool lanai as well as a private lanai with 2 hanging chairs to sit and watch amazing sunsets. This beautiful spa-like master bedroom features a custom made king-sized bed with an adjustable mattress, a large walk in closet, and a spacious en suite bathroom with a large and tranquil outdoor shower with ocean views.

The second bedroom features a queen-sized bed with an adjustable mattress, an en suite bathroom with a shower/bathtub combo, ocean views and your own lanai!

The third bedroom also has a queen-sized bed with an adjustable mattress, and an en suite bathroom with a shower, ocean views and your own lanai!

There is also a cozy den with a twin bed as well as a full sized pull out sofa. This room is an extra living or sleeping space that be closed off from the main living area.

The open concept living/kitchen area opens out onto another dining area overlooking your pool and the ocean! The kitchen is equipped with high end appliances and a huge selection of pantry items, cookware, and dishes. There are several places to enjoy food, family and friends, all with amazing ocean views!
Relax in the oversized "Cloud" sectional in the living room and turn on your favorite sports game from any room in the house, including the pool and hot tub areas! The entire inside and outside is also hooked up to the Sonos Stereo system to play your favorite playlist wherever you are.

Outside there is more than enough room for everyone to spread out. With views of Mauna Kea, Mauna Loa, Hualalai and Maui it is just magical! The Whale Watching area at the front of the house includes a teak couch, 2 teak chaise lounges and extra poufs along with a fire pit: the perfect place for a sunset! The pool lanai includes the dining area, 2 Ibiza lounge chairs and an Ibiza double lounger, with plenty of shade to keep you nice and cool. The party lanai has plenty of comfortable seating around the oversized fire pit: the perfect spot for late night star gazing! Throw in the oversized spa and the infinity edge pool and you may never want to leave!!

Best VRBO stay we've had.

This is truly one of those places that is so much better than advertised. The photos do not do the views justice, and the outdoor seating area and pool were far beyond expectations. We all agreed, we have never spent so much time in a pool in our lives. But when you float in 80-degree weather while watching whales and spinner dolphins, it’s hard to leave. Bedrooms, living area & kitchen were as advertised but it was the small touches that made the stay excellent.The laundry room was equipped with everything you would need if you stayed a month. Each bathroom offered body wash, soaps and other goodies while the pool area was equipped with a basket of sun block & more. There were towels galore and the private back yard BBQ area was delightful. Plus, the grill is hooked to the main propane tank, so never worry about running out.The kitchen had dozens of spices, high quality knives and every utensil needed to create a gourmet dinner. Oh. and the pull-out refrigerator drawers were an incredibly pleasant surprise. The house is about 45 min. from the airport but after spending time in downtown Kona, it was quickly clear the drive is worth it. SO fewer people & the town of Waimea is only 10 miles away with grocery stores and an incredible farmers market that offered fresh produce, fresh fish and local artists. Again, it was by far the best VRBO stay we have ever experienced. Thanks to Sophie for answering the few questions we had quickly and pleasantly. We will be back!

Truly an amazing home and location

This is truly an amazing property, and we have rented 6 other homes in the islands. It really is better than the pictures. The pool is much larger than it looks in the photos. Whale watchimg from the lanai (overlooking the pool) or from on the pool was a treat. Great beds. A/C zones for individual preferenced. An incredibly well stocked kitchen. If you rent this ho.e, youbwill NOT be disappointed! We give it 6 stars out of 5.

Beautiful house, whales and paradise

Amazing house, fully supplied with everything we needed. Kitchen was well equipped for us to prepare a Christmas dinner. The views are outstanding and our favorite activity was hanging out in the pool watching the whales and dolphins out in the bay. Owners were very prompt in responding to questions. Probably the best home we have ever rented.

Better than the pictures!

One of the best stays we've ever had. The house is so perfectly situated, there are breathtaking views from every room. When you are in the pool it feels like you are floating somewhere between sea and sky. The house far exceeded our expectations. It's large, and every bedroom feels private. The beds are comfortable, and the linens were wonderful. Every amenity you could want or think of has been provided, and there were even sweet welcome treats for us. Communication was easy and fast. There is a handy guide for the house and nearby places to go. The landscaping is beautiful, and the decor in the house is so fun! My favorite thing was having coffee outside by the pool every morning while watching tiny tropical birds come down and play in the water at the pool's edge. Every view has a spot to relax and take it in, Sunset by the front of the house fire pit, sunrise by the pool, ocean views from the hot tub. The house is so nice we didn't want to leave it! Will absolutely book this house again during whale migration season or any other time of year, it's 100% worth it! It made our stay on the Big Island amazing! Thank you to the hosts for creating such a welcoming home and sharing it with others!

Our second time in this FABULOUS home

This was our second stay in this fabulous home with its incredible views, and it did not disappoint at all! The home is perched above the Kohala Coastline; close enough that you can not only see but can also hear the whales frolicking in the water below the house. It is AMAZING to sit out on the lanai for hours at a time and watch the whales breaching and fin slapping; tail slapping and breaching some more. On one particular day, we counter OVER 20 whales AT ONE TIME playing in the ocean in our line of sight. There are no words to describe how that felt. Breathtaking is probably the closest I could come to a fitting adjective. The house itself is lovely; just lovely! The beds and couches are extremely comfortable and the home is beautifully decorated with a cozy Hawaiian feel. The kitchen is very well-stocked with all the accouterments one could desire, although with so many excellent restaurants nearby, we never cooked dinner at home. The property is conveniently located to almost all of the resorts on the Gold Coast of the Big Island, and decent shopping can be found nearby at the Queens and Kings Shopping Centers. The nearest grocery store is 30 minutes away in Waimea, but there are also plenty of grocery stores in Kona and one in Waikoloa Village; both towns are just a little bit out of the way if one wants to stop and pick up groceries on their way from the airport. Sophie, the Property Manager, is a true gem; very responsive and an absolute pleasure to deal with.

Beautiful views in great community

We all loved our vacation stay! The views of the Whales and sunset were spectacular every day. The location was far enough North to take us out of any resort traffic and kept us in a relaxing quiet neighborhood overlooking the ocean. There were numerous pool and beach toys for the children and we felt comfortable throughout the home. Enjoyed all aspects of the property.

Amazing—I’d give 5,000 stars if I could.

This house has everything and more. The host thought of everything. Literally everything. Baskets of toiletries in every bathroom, workout items if that’s your thing. Music area, computer, the list goes on. The house is beautiful in an area that is quiet and alluded and close enough that the resort area is a quick drive. And don’t get me started on the whales. It was our own private sea world show all day every day. Amazing and we definitely hope to be back!

Absolutely Amazing!!!

This home is beyond beautiful - perfect location, view was incredible, house had everything we needed and more. The views from all the rooms could not have been better. We saw whales everyday of our stay - so cool. Very quiet and friendly community. We did the fishing boat one day and it was fantastic - great crew and my son caught a huge fish. We will definitely be coming back!

Amazing Vacation

We absolutely loved our stay. We spent 10 days on the Big Island and had a blast. This was our third VRBO in the area and this was by far our favorite home. The home is well appointed with anything you might need. Beach towels, beach chairs, pool floats, snorkle gear, etc. The kitchen is extremely well stocked with anything you might need. There’s a brand new grill out back. The sonos sound system and tv’s theoughout were great. 6:00am college football from the hot tub was a great way to start the day. The house has incredible views all around. Wonderful sunsets. Great views of Mauna Kea, Mauna Loa, and Hualalai. The home is in a great area in North Kohala. Quiet and chill with lots of activities nearby. We’ve already re-booked for next year. A 10 out of 10 no doubt.

Fantastic home!! Bright and welcoming!!

This house is everything and more! The trip was an annual vacation that I take with my two adult sons (ages 27 and 30). We have stayed in many VRBO homes. This one is spectacular!! We thoroughly enjoyed this home’s many amenities. Beds and rooms were comfy and spacious. The setting was gorgeous from the interior design to the landscaping and infinity pool area. The kitchen was well stocked and we enjoyed the fruit basket. We appreciated the products they provided for us in the bathrooms too! The home is located conveniently to excellent dining and is in a gated community which made us feel quite safe. On arrival, Sophie greeted us with great tips for fun activities. Thank you, Sophie!! An incredible view! Very comfortable home. Well equipped. Perfect host. Loved our stay!! An hour from Kona two to Hilo. Although, the drive anywhere felt long it was a beautiful ride in every direction. We didn’t want to leave and if the Lord permits we’ll be back there soon.

Best VRBO experience ever!

We have stayed in a number of rented properties and none lived up to the advertisements. This one far exceeded our expectations! The pictures of the house and amenities were compelling but when we got there and actually saw the view, decor, and complete kitchen accessories, we were blown away! The attention to detail was appreciated. The build quality of the house was excellent and the floor plan to maximize all of the ocean views was spectacular. We will be back again!

Incredible property

We stayed here in April 2023. The property was absolutely spectacular. In addition to the wonderful view of the ocean, the pool, hot tub, and fire pits
the hosts have thoughtfully prepared the property for the many needs you might have. From sunscreen and aloe to pool and beac gear, kitchen gadgets and appliances, to helpful directions and guides. There are lots of different areas to sit and relax, room for many to stay comfortably. It feels like living in a luxury home, not a rental property. Highly recommend. This property exceeded our expectations in every way.

Lovely house and property, great location and views!

Our six-night stay was fantastic. We would have liked to stay longer but the property is popular and booked, for good reason. We agree with the other comments praising the location, views, quiet neighborhood, well-stocked kitchen, bath, laundry, pool/beach supplies, books, music, games, whales (in season) and especially the great property manager, Sophie. We look forward to staying at this property again.

Amazing House With Amazing Views.

If you're considering staying at this house, stop thinking about it and do it, you will not be disappointed. They say "it's the little things that matter" well, the host got this one right. The house is a little bit of a drive from the airport, but we never tired of the old lava fields on the way there. Once you walk in the front door, you'll be amazed at the open floor plan, the view that extends past the lanai, the infinity pool and on out to the ocean. Our first morning out on the lanai, we watched a very large pod of spinner dolphins swim by and finally on our last day there were three whales that swam by, no more than 50 yards off the beach. We were greeted by a large welcome basket with Kona coffee, chips, chocolates and a pineapple. Each bathroom had a welcome basket with many personal hygiene items. We had excursions we wanted to do on the Island, but we contemplated just hanging out at the house, it really is that nice, even the couch was amazing, fall into it and your done for the night.lol The host also owns a dive and snorkel business and she set us up for the nighttime Manta Ray snorkel, which was the highlight of our trip. We counted 12 Manta Rays that night to include "Big Bertha," a Manta Ray with a 16' wingspan. I really just want to go on and on about the house, but you truly have to experience it to understand my gratitude and excitement that the host has opened this home up to vacationers. We will definitely book this house again on our next trip.

Perfect in every way!

I stayed here for a week with my husband, three adult children (19, 23 and 25) and my dad. The house was absolutely perfect for us. There was plenty of room, the outside patio and pool are gorgeous. We saw whales and dolphins right off shore. The last two days of our trip my kids wanted to just stay at the house because they loved it so much. This is probably the best stocked rental I have every stayed out, everything from dishes, to toiletries, beach chairs, pool floats, snorkel gear. You name it they had it! The house sound system was a great feature. There are lots of TV's but we never once watched TV. The views from the master bedroom were extraordinary. The house is in a very quiet neighborhood. The only thing I would be aware of is there are not many restaurants nearby, most nights we drove back to Waikoloa to eat (about 20-25 minutes). Go to Costco when you land, it is close to the airport. We cooked breakfast every day at the house and some lunches. The Seafood Bar and Grill nearby was excellent. We probably had the best poke on the island at the Kawaihae market. Sophie, the property manager was super easy to get ahold of. Everything during our stay was amazing. We can't wait to come back.
