Always love this hotel and beach. Breakfast buffet was delicious (big thank you to the hostesses and wait staff for their kind service each day) and Meredia was spectacular. Sunsets are not to be skipped, especially from the Meredia walkway, bar and restaurant. Love that Kayla in the Meredia bar remembered us from the last 2 years. Bummed that the piano was removed from the Meredia but found the piano player up in Piko with a portable piano. The other musicians he set up to play were fabulous as well. Room was clean and very comfortable. Love the adult pool. Will return.

We were really happy with choosing this hotel. The only annoying thing was the number of flies that always came to eat with us. They really need to do a better job of managing that. There are plenty of eco friendly methods.

As a world traveler knowledgeable about luxury resorts, I was extremely disappointed by the Westin Hapuna. Key words here are lack of value, service and experience. The resort itself has NOT changed in more than 2 decades, dated rooms, old furnishings, broken loungers etc. While clean and maintained, the property is in decline. At check in, after 20 hours of travel, in getting to the room, I was surprised to find basically zero amenities that one would associate with this level of property. No mini bar, no water, etc. When I called down, someone brought 2 cheaply made metal reusable water bottles and told us to go to the water dispenser on property. I totally get being kind to the environment, but wouldn’t you at least offer to bring some water on arrival to a guest paying $600 per night? The other thing to mention about the room is the lack of curtains or blinds to black out the room. Additionally, this is not a true Westin bed, something that attempts to mimic it, but it ended up giving me a backache each morning. Additionally, no one checked in with us during the entire stay to inquire if we needed anything, and anytime I asked for something, I wasn’t made to feel welcome or appreciated. As for experience, there were so many missed opportunities. Here we were in the middle of the big island and the Aloha was missing, must have moved to Kauai. I wondered why there was no performance of Hawaiian music or dance easily accessible. Overall, I gave this 2 stars.

We LOVED the entertainment in the bar area every night, and the healthy options on the restaurant menus. The only complaint is that people were allowed to use the main pool after 8:00 p.m., when people are dining next to the pool.

The hotel is right on the beach and ground is well kept. Staff very friendly. We got upgraded to a premier room which is spacious. The view is amazing. There is free guest laundry services on site with plenty of detergent available and four washers and four dryers.Read the brochure given while checking in and you will see several perks covered under resort fee like daily snorkel gear for 2 hours free. They also have go pro complimentary rental for 24 hours from the pool desk. However they are hard to come by. Also bring your own micro SD chip to use in the go pro. It is a wonderful place to stay!
