Our female veterans group had a wonderful experience at the cabin. We enjoyed the zip line and climbing wall. We loved the quietness of the property and the fire pit at night. We were able to walk around the property as well. This is a perfect place if you have lots of kids.
The house has immense potential but was severely lacking upon arrival. We were a large group (22 people) that was traveling from Utah to stay for a family reunion. We were notified 2 hours away from check in that there was a problem with the water pump, and that there was no water available on the property. Casey with VRC, was fantastic and very apologetic. She worked with us through the entire stay and never stopped trying to help. Her and her company were fantastic. We would rent any other property through them next time. However this property was lacking in more ways than just the lack of water. It seems like the owners are not active in keeping up with managing/maintaining The house. The amenities were not all available or in need or repair. The playground was not available to use, the trampoline was missing, but it was shown in the listing pictures. The sauna didn't work, and several lights/outlets did not work inside the house either. The Internet did work, but seemed to struggle. The location/views and bedding were great along with the zip line and climbing wall. The water issue was never fixed during our 5 day stay so we were unable to use the showers, laundry room, dishwasher etc.. this house was more than capable of being fantastic but seemed to fall short in several ways. It seems like quite a gamble when renting this property. I would recommend checking out other houses directly through VRC, and skip over this one.
This is an amazing property with ample outdoor recreation right at the door step! The only negatives we noticed were the kitchen was not equipped as well as it could have been with pots and pans and the ice maker is not working, but our large family group made due. There were several light bulbs (interior and exterior) burned out. The main bathroom was very cold, we were able to locate a small heater in a downstairs storage closet and that kept the bathroom comfortable. Really not huge issues and would not stop us from booking again or recommending this property to anyone looking for a great gathering place for your family!
I got a message the day we were arriving saying there was work being done on the water heater. We ended up without hot water the entire stay, which was difficult to deal with, mostly due to the fact that the hot water line is required to run the dishwasher. Cooking during Christmas for a large group proved difficult since washing dishes by hand under cold water was a slow process. The kitchen was also very sparsely stocked especially considering how large it was (one potholder, one sheet pan, missing a lot of basics). The plumber who was supposed to fix the hot water worked past 10 on the 23rd and Christmas eve, the 24th, even though on Christmas eve we asked him and the hosts to have him out before 6pm. It didn't appear the hosts were able to communicate with him well either. He cut the power for multiple hours each night so we had to sit in the dark. He he acted very erraticly and didn't seem to be very sound of mind. He acted aggressively, slamming stuff into the wall and cussing, which led to us repeatedly telling him to leave on Christmas eve. Otherwise, the property was a fun place to be. Cool property and house. We had some problems with flies too, as about 20 would die each day near the fireplace. With all the trouble with the water and plumber, the hosts refunded our stay, which was appreciated. I was disappointed with our stay since we hoped for a peaceful Christmas with family, but the hosts were easy to work with afterward.
