Jobs worth on front desk. The short local guy.

Parked my motorcycle next to the flag pole so I could chain it. Did not take up a parking space. I checked it was ok with an Eastern European staff member, he was really friendly, said it would be fine and as it wasn’t taking a space i shouldn’t get charged. Totally different attitude to the local jobs worth on the desk, who looked down on me in my motorcycle gear while insisting he check again where it was parked. He reluctantly told me it was fine but I would have to pay £25 per night. That was fine by me but to be fair I guess it’s very rare gets to use a power play. I Feel sorry for people like that.

Excellent hotel as always, but no biscuits to go with the coffee. Also, previously the hotel was able to validate car parking tickets to get a discount. It’s a pity that this is no longer available, especially when nearby hotels are still able to do this.

Great location with fantastic ice cream cafe opposite. Queued for 20mins in foyer,no air con & only 2 on desk.Queue was only about 10 check-ins long.Yes it was a hot day but that was a poor start. Stayed in room 444: fantastic view of the city & towards the waterfront. Comfy bed bigger than king. Duvet no sheet.Too hot.Air con very poor-wish I’d brought a fan. Wall paper peeling from top of wall by window.Don’t expect that really. Complimentary cans of water with glasses if you were a member only, & £2 each for everyone else.£2 for warm canned water. Carpet was clearly very quickly vacuumed as remnants missed of previous guests. Bathroom: clean. Long hair on towel that wasn’t mine. Bath VERY high- needs a step. Shower rose hanging off.No shampoo or body wash in the canisters. Sink VERY high up with steep sides! My wife is 5’2. Check out was quick but we weren’t asked how our stay was so didn’t bother to share. Overall disappointing for £170. No better than a premiere inn. Surprised really. It was a bit of a late birthday celebration for my 50th & not quite the chic experience we expected. Wouldn’t stay again sadly.

There was an event locally so rooms were expensive but I was expecting a lot more from Hilton than this. On checking into my room it was dirty with toenails in the middle of the floor. They wanted to discuss this as the hotel was full but I insisted on a room change. 2nd room was similar, carpets threadbare, wooden furniture scuffed and old, just felt grim. Air con on fully all day and night but not cool at all and no windows to open. Main lobby toilets filthy, no toilet roll and glasses from the previous nights around the sink and sanitary bins at 1pm. Staff were lovely and looked shocked when raising these points. Breakfast items luke warm every morning too. Hilton need to support their staff better, the building was boiling with the poor cleaners working in exceptional heat on one of the hottest days. As I say, staff are lovely but clearly let down by Hilton and the need to update the hotel rooms.

Health Hazard

Awful from check in to check out. Faeces cover flannel in the bathroom, rolled up ready for us to use. Dangerous kettle left for us to use, only worked it pressure put on plug, broken bathroom tap, rubbish aircon, rubbish shower. We spoke to the duty manager on leaving and presented her with the flannel, she said the operations manager would email us.. absolutely nothing from him … shame on you Hilton Hotels
