Situated in the heart of Liverpool city centre, Maldron hotel is a modern hotel with an very open yet cosy interior design.
The room I stayed in was small, but good size for one person and the bed was comfortable. The bathroom was very clean and a good size but lacked female sanitary bags. The wardrobe was completely open with no door, located between the door to the room and the bed which I didn't like at all (didn't feel safe putting any belongings in there). The room had a large window, but there was a new hotel/office building being built next door so the only view was of construction and construction workers. The window did keep the noise out though, even when open.
I received a message to check-in online which I thought was very useful, but then received a message to pick up my key at the "pod" in reception. Being new to this type of hotel, I was looking for an actual pod. Turns out the pod is actually a big touch screen, so even though I checked in online, I still had to physically check-in when I got to the hotel. Navigating the hotel was annoying, every door (including the lift) requires tapping the keycard which is beyond annoying when you're pushing a suitcase or carrying heavy bags; I also saw one lady have a panic attack in the stairwell because she didn't know how to get out, so I used my keycard to help her.
The reception staff were nice, breakfast staff were also nice but there weren't enough of them.
