Like many things, a stay at The Dive Motel has its pros and cons.
The Pros: killer aesthetic, fun vibe, comfy beds, not far from downtown, and tickets upon check in for free canned drinks at their bar, just for staying at the motel.
The Cons: the structure was built in 1956(?) so the pipes are old and there is little to no sound proofing/insulation. We travel with a white noise sound machine and still heard conversations of people walking by our room early in the morning. Also, on-site parking is very limited and if you arrive on the weekend there may not be on-site parking (meaning that you have to park at the neighboring school). While The Dive has security cameras in their small parking lot, the school may or may not be aware that motel guests park on their property on the weekends. Even in The Diveâs small parking lot they have multiple signs stating they are not responsible for break-ins or stolen items. When I asked the girl at check in she told me âbreak-ins donât happen *that* oftenâ. More than once constitutes a problem in my eyes but our vehicle was unscathed after a night at The Dive.
The motel is not in the safest part of town, but it wasnât a bad Uber ride to and from The Dive and Downtown Nashville.
The light switch to control the in-room music also controlled the disco ball, so if you wanted to enjoy their radio, you had to have the disco ball spinning. Not a big con but a minor inconvenience.
From the minute we got in the staff was friendly and inviting, we got to our room and it didn't disappoint, disco ball and all. We hit the hot tub after a long day (pool isn't heated so hadn't got to temp yet). afterwards headed to the fantastic bar to enjoy some nightcaps before turning in. This is going to be our go to place to stay in Nashville.
I drove 3 hours for the trip I booked as a gift for my daughterâs birthday only to be told at the desk itâs a 21 place and we couldnât stay. Told me to call Expedia for a refund that told me the site refused my refund. I messaged the site and the site told me contact Expedia with my issues about the site details not being specific. Site should require drivers licenses info at booking. Horrible experience
Although I will make it very clear that Itâs my fault that the site I booked on did not specify that it was an OVER 21 hotel, I Lost money and extremely disappointed and upset!!!! I donât know how I missed it, or would have ever known but I hope my review cautions people that YOU MUsT BE 21 ALL GUESTS IN THE PARTY & HAVE ID. My son was with me that was 16, and just so disappointed to lose money and not be able to stay or get a refund for the mishap.
I absolutely loved the decor in my room only issue was that the lighting was kind of limited . Maybe adding a few brighter lights could be helpful for the getting ready aspect. Overall I enjoyed my stay !
So fun! Employees were very helpful. Loved that they kept you informed of everything through text. Rooms were very clean. Mattress was comfortable but the bed was a little saggy in the middle. The only other complaint is that I wish there was a full length mirror on the back of the bathroom door. Loved the bar. Too cold to swim but it looked like fun! The music and the disco ball were fun in the room. Off the beaten path and the area isnât the greatest, but we never felt unsafe. No tv which was fine with us. Whoâs going to watch tv in Nashville anyway?! We loved it and will definitely be back! Would like to try one of the penthouses next time!
Overall it was a great place to stay without kids. The room was clean and fun with the disco ball/party switch. My wife and I are both old enough to remember seeing motels like this as kids and we especially got a good laugh from the bathroom decor. Reminded us both of visiting our grandparents back in the 80's.
Was a little confusing at first as the front desk is inside the restaurant but just took a few minutes to figure all that out.
The weather was cold during our stay so we didn't go anywhere near the pool but imagine relaxing there would have been great on a warmer day.
Our only real criticism, and it's not something the Dive can really do anything about, is the area around it. There is nothing within walking distance so any food required a drive. Not a big deal but just something to think about if you are getting there late and hungry.
The Dive Motel was absolutely fantastic. Stepping back in time with their curated 70s style rooms, complete with disco ball and dive radio. Not having a TV made us spend time in the moment together which is hard to come by these days. The staff was friendly and tentative to our needs. I loved their text system if we needed anything and when they were closing up each night. Comedy night was an absolute hit! It was within 10 mins of broadway, which made it very easy. My husband and I would definitely stay here again.
The Penthouse Room at Dive Motel was just the place to reconnect and rejuvenate for a weekend stay. Between the disco balls, the dual tubs and the floor level king bed you find yourself in a golden lit sanctuary for the senses. Definitely recommend for a weekend away
Super cool spot to stay for a night, but poor lighting and lack of amenities makes it difficult to stay comfortably for numerous nights. Thereâs a mini fridge but nowhere to store or set anything on. No iron. We literally went and bought lightbulbs to temporarily replace what was in the room. Staff was awesome and the bar was great
If you are looking for a seedy, nostalgic, classic motel you see in those 1970's movies, this is your place! It's decked out in wood paneled walls, pink bathroom and furniture from that era - and includes a Disco ball in each room. It was cool that they had swanky music playing in the room when we arrived. Bed was comfortable. That's where the excitement ends! The rooms are quite small compared to the pics on the website. There is VERY LITTLE lighting in the room. After dark you need a flashlight just to look in your suitcase. Cement floors. No place to sit your items. No amenities in the room such as a coffee pot or microwave -- OH -- but they make sure you have a tray full of condoms, lubricant gel and a vibrator for purchase right at your bedside! This is a one nighter motel, at best, only for the experience with the decor.
