Six-day stay in June

We booked an executive twin room and were told on arrival that we had been upgraded from that room (which would have been on the 10th, 11th or 12th floor) to Room 1706 near the top of the hotel, with a fantastic view out over Porto to the Douro River and even a little piece of the Atlantic Ocean. The room was extremely quiet and very comfortable (although the pillows could use an upgrade). The internet connection was out our first night, so neither TV nor wifi worked, but we told the desk staff about it when we went out our first morning and it was fixed by the time we got back. Breakfast was very nice, served in a very large room, with lots of choices (including port and sparkling wine!) and specialty coffees available by order. The hotel is not centrally located, but metro stops are within walking distance and the metro is very easy to use, and taxis (inexpensive by US standards) easily got us to train stations for day trips and to the airport for departure.

This hotel totes itself as a 5 star hotel, but having travelled to many, it is not at that level. Buffet breakfast is limited in options compared to other hotels at a 5 star quality rating. The room I was in had stained carpet and the drain in the shower was not functIonal, nor was soap checked for levels. The location is not convenient for pedestrian access to the old city. But convenient enough to the metro. Room is quiet and the sliding door dividing the bath and toilet rooms (they were separate in my room) adds acoustic privacy. The separate bath and toilet room would be convenient for people travleeing together but less so maybe for solo.

Great hotel with great staff

Well positioned hotel in quite area but easy to get to Porto's best bits. Easy check in and allowed us to stay for a couple of hours after official checkout time to fit in with our flight times. Great staff and good facilities.

Incredible staff but facility needs some updates.

All the staff we interacted with were excellent, this started with the front desk all the way through to the breakfast and housekeeping staff. We were there during the 12-hour long countrywide power blackout and the staff handled the challenging situation extremely well. The hotel's location is a bit far from the historic district, but both step- on/off bus companies plus the public metro buses have stops just steps away from the front door. Our only complaint involves the facility itself. The carpets, plumbing, and furniture needed some replacing.

Perfect hotel for a stay in Porto. A fair walk to the centre and beach but if you like walking and exploring it’s perfect. The spa is good too. The staff were all brilliant when dealing with requests. Will look to stay at another Editory hotel in the future.
