We really enjoyed our stay at the Rex. The hotel is in a beautiful heritage building, but the facilities are modern and comfortable. The staff was helpful and welcoming. It's located in a quieter area, but a very short walk to all the action. We will stay here again.

Quiet, modernized rooms in traditional building. Limited secure car parking under the building. About 10 minutes walk to the restaurant/business district, a bit farther to the historic district. Overlooks a nice park, which unfortunately was under renovation when we visited, but should be great when it reopens. Friendly helpful staff.

The room was really nice and clean and vary spacious. Really feels like a boutique hotel. For the people that have limited mobility, it's important to know that there are sets of stairs ( 8-10) to get to the lobby. Since our room was the first room up the stairs, we could hear the noise from people talking outside. It didn't bug me however, if you're a light sleeper it's something to be aware of. The hotel was in a more "quiet" area being roughly 25 min walking distance from downtown. We only stayed one night, and left really early so we didn't have breakfast. It did look nice enough. The typical spanish/Portuguese continental breakfast with ham & cheese. I felt like I was annoying the person check-in us in but apart from that I would definitely stay there again. 8.5/10

Beautiful little hotel right in front of Porto's Plaza Republica, far from the heavy touristic river area, but near the Cedofeita shopping and dining area, metro stations, and the Bolhão market. Personnel at the front desk were very helpful and accommodated all of our needs. Breakfast was pretty good. Overall, a great place to stay in Porto.

This property was built in the 1850’s as a home. In 1982 the property was converted to a hotel. It is very quaint. The rooms are somewhat small but the bathrooms are new and wonderful. It has an elevator to get you upstairs to the 3rd floor. They offer a very good continental breakfast that has a variety of options. We enjoyed our stay at the Rex

En route to something lovely - just needs work

Gorgeous building with beautiful details - particularly in shared areas. However, in our room the old brown carpet definitely caught us off guard. AC machine felt old and bathrooms sterile and without design or personality. I think they are en route to making it a beautiful quaint space...however they are not there quite yet. I will say the service by the front desk staff was great. They were lovely and accommodating when I made a mistake with booking. Also, parking was a plus!

The hotel was quiet and had a good breakfast although it was cold. It was a little distant from the most popular attractions but that was the reason we chose it, There were lots of restaurants withing walking distances. There was a pharmacy next to it and few markets also withing walking distances. The was a bus stop close by.

A lovely place to stay

A lovely place to stay if you have a large room. Very efficient, polite staff at reception, helpful and warm. Nice building, amazing bathroom amenities and a well preserved continental breakfast. Also the fruit and pastries offered in the lobby a very nice touch. About five minutes walk from the metro station, about 20 mins walk to the main sites and a supermarket a couple of minutes away.
