Please Note: - Well Water: The home uses well water, which is safe to drink, though it may taste or smell different than city water. The naturally high mineral content in the area can sometimes leave an orange tint on white surfaces including tubs, toilets, and linens washed at the home. This is normal and not harmful. In the event of a power outage, the well pump will not function and water will be unavailable until power is restored. - Septic System: This home is on a private septic system. To ensure proper function, please flush toilet paper only. Do not flush items such as wipes, feminine products, paper towels, or other materials, as they can cause damage or backups. - Nature & Wildlife: This home is nestled in a beautiful natural setting where wildlife and insects are part of the charm. Routine pest control services are in place to ensure the comfort of our guests, but on occasion, a curious critter may make its way inside, especially if doors are left open. If you notice any evidence of pests indoors, please notify our office promptly so we can address the situation.

Very nice house on Oxbow property. Loved the proximity to the hiking trail and fire pit and porch swing. The kitchen was well stocked, beds were comfortable. It was a little tight for 2 families of 4ânot bad if your kids are young, or just for a long weekend, which was what we had. Short drive to oval beach.
The house was nice, clean, and the deck and backyard area was great. Check-In required stopping in at the office in downtown Saugatuck which wasn't clear to me in the VRBO listing but it was mentioned in emails directly from Mill Pond Reality. You'll want to make sure you check your email inbox instead of relying on communication via VRBO. Once we checked in communication with the property managers was good.Propane tanks were empty and I was instructed to get it filled at a local supermarket and they would reimburse. The supermarket was out of propane so we had to hunt a bit for it.I also want to add because I'm not sure it's clear from the listing: the house is pretty much ON (not near) the Oxbow campus which is open to students 24/7. There is a very busy parking lot directly next to the house which stayed busy throughout the weekend (parking for a popular trailhead). There is a lot of vehicle and foot traffic directly next to the house. I think this should be made clearer in the listing. The photos and description provided by the property managers seem to leave this out intentionally and I don't think it's fair to potential guests or the locals to do so.
The Art Coast cottage was very clean and nicely decorated in an antique type vibe. It can be a little tricky to get to the house as you have to travel on a one lane road in a heavily wooded area to get to the house. If a car is driving on the road from the opposite direction you have to back up down the hill to give the right of away. There was a tree down in the road one morning because of a storm so you could not leave but it was quickly cut up and removed. The house is in a very wooded area with lots to see and paths to walk on. We enjoyed our stay but if you are not an adventurous driver the road could cause you some problems.
This property left very little to be desired (accomodations for a toddler were lacking). We loved the woodsy environment, the hiking trail nearby was lovely, the house itself was very comfortable and we enjoyed every minute we were there. Would happily return.
I can't say enough good things about this rental! The property managers were fantastic and made everything easy - they even called during my stay to make sure everything was going well, and to ask if they could do anything for us.
The house itself was amazing! The location is absolutely perfect - It's pretty far from everything except a neat art school in the woods up the hill. The backyard has great firepit, chairs, and picknic table. There's a trailhead that goes to "Crows Nest Overlook" very close to the house - it's a relatively mild (2 mile) trail through an old growth forest that leads to a fantastic view of the lagoon and Lake Michigan.
I highly recommend this property!
The Art Coast Cottage was an amazing property. The mornings began with free symphonies by the birds. (Saw my first hummingbird of the season) The rhododendrons bloomed all week for us. The kitchen was spacious and stocked with a lot of staples It afforded a great gathering space for culinary adventures and great conversation around the farm style table. We enjoyed the fire pit for evening gathering of gratitude and conviviality. The best stocked game closet I've ever seen. Comfortable beds, amazing shower water pressure and the coziest home feeling I've had the pleasure to rent, ever. The lake was too cold for me to swim in, but the rest of the peace of Spring before the tourists hordes take over town was well worth coming early for...Mother Nature gifted us with perfect weather. I hope to come back and stay with loved ones again...maybe next Mother's Day?!
Quiet, well appointed cottage on Oxbow property. Great hiking nearby. Easy access to downtown Saugutuck, but away from the bustle. We really enjoyed the place! We were here for traditional post Thanksgiving weekend Christmas tree cutting. Loved the place, but with holiday weekend thought price was quite steep.
The house is in a fantastic location, clean, livable, and pretty much meets the description. The property management team was first class. The combo of those two above makes it 5 stars.
If you are picky though, I would recommend upgrading the furniture in the family room; its fairly dated and really not that comfortable. The beds get a C for comfort since they are of B quality. .....again this is if you are picky .....otherwise great rental and the location makes up for the others
