"My wife and I (both late 40s) and our 22yo son stayed in a Japanese Suite on the 3rd floor for 5 nights.
We came from the US and landed in Tokyo, so from the time we woke up to go to the airport, went to our layover in the US, landed in Tokyo, then bullet trained to Kyoto, it had been somewhere around 25 hours. So, it was very nice when as soon as we walked in about 7pm a very welcoming employee was saying hello as soon as the door opened. He asked if we were checking in and brought us right to the kiosk and checked in for us. We were tired and hungry, put our bags in our room, came back down, walked right across the narrow street and ate pizza and pasta at a little Italian place up the stairs before settling in.
There was plenty of room for the 3 of us and it was in full Japanese theme which was very cool. There were shoji screens for all the walls and doors. A separate area where you walk in for clothes and shoes and suitcases. You can close off the room where the two large beds were from the living room area (tv in both rooms). The bed was very hard based on what we are used to and the pillows were a bit too soft but they offered to bring up different memory foam pillows if you want them. Great water pressure in the shower!
The breakfast buffet had a good selection and we ate there every morning. The only issue with the buffet was the "scrambled" eggs. They were essentially just liquid with a few mushy egg bits. Definitely not what we would call a scrambled egg. But no "
