Charming country house in the Florentine hills
A country style and classy eco retreat surrounded by olive trees and valley views located in the characteristic Florence hills. It offers a genuine Tuscan experience in a relaxing and comfortable yet charming atmosphere. An excellent starting point to visit Florence and the renowned historical cities in Tuscany; also the ideal place to enjoy peace, quietness, and the back to nature atmosphere to rediscover feelings and emotions often forgotten. The property is just 25 minutes panoramic drive away from Florence and the Etruscan village of Fiesole; was built on the remains of an ancient medieval tower and was renovated in 2000 following the principle of "Green buildingâ. It seats in a rural setting of 3 hectares with olives trees and a wine yard, offering relaxing spaces and amazing views. The house develops over two floors and it measures 165 square meters. On the first floor a cozy sitting area, a balcony, and the three spacious and bright en suite bedrooms that offers gorgeous views out over the hills. The furniture is a harmonious combination of ancient, modern and traditional. On the ground floor the large stone, fully equipped kitchen and the beautiful veranda overlooking a large and lush garden full of aromas.
Really we really love our villa! But more importantly, our caretaker, Jacopo, was the most friendly and accommodating person. I would highly recommend this location.
If your looking for peace and quiet but within striking distance to Florence and al its glory this is the place. Very well furnished and equipped overlooking a wooded valley. Jacopo the owner was very helpful and accommodating!
Would stay again!
Jacopo was a great host! The property was amazing. The only two things I would say is that it was a bit further away from Florence and transportation to/from was a bit pricey. Also, it was hard to get the bedrooms cool overnight.
This VRBO is aptly titled and the host Jacopo who greeted us upon our arrival is just as charming and helpful as he assisted us to carry our baggage to our rooms and gave us pointers for travelling to Florence. The setting is a serene retreat in the Tuscan countryside away from the bustle of the city, but within a reasonable 20 to 30 minute drive to Florence, and with many villages and restaurants to visit in the area.Once settled, the terrace was so inviting, we broke out the wine and Prosecco and sat chatting till 3 in the morning. In the morning we shopped at the grocery store in the nearby village of Borgo San Lorenzo for a basic breakfast taking advantage of the well furnished kitchen. After our stay in Naples, our grandkids (all adults) repeated several times they wished we had stayed here for the entire vacation!
This wonderful farmhouse was our home base for three weeks from mid May to mid June. Set in the unspoiled mountain woodlands of the Mugella region, the peaceful presence of this place seeps into your soul. Renovated with respect to its regional history, the house is full of architectural detail, artifacts and books offering insight to the area while providing every needed convenience. Our host, Jacopo, was so friendly and hospitable: very responsive whenever needed, helpful in getting us settled and oriented to the area. When we had family visit we also engaged him for a full day/evening trip to the Chianti region culminating in a wine tasting dinner in the Greve area. It was great to take a break from driving but Jacopoâs knowledge of the region and enjoyment of sharing it with us really made it special. Speaking of driving- you will need a car and be comfortable with driving in ItalyâŠor at least willing to make a go of it. Firenze is about 40 minutes to city center parking or there is bus service from Fiesole about a 20 minute drive. Borgo San Lorenzo for groceries etc. is about 20 minutes, all via some outstanding countryside. We drove day trips exploring as far north as Bologna and as far south as Orvieto combined with restful days staying local to the house. It was hard to leave this special place and we will remember our time there fondly.
Abbiamo soggiornato con amici a capodanno Ăš stato tutto come descritto nella presentazione proprietario molto accogliente gentile e disponibile alle nostre richieste. Grazie Jacopo.
Unforgettable Tuscan holiday staying in a wonderful, characterful house and garden with lovely views
Jacopo was a great host and very helpful at all times. Also very generous with his produce from his vegetable garden ! The house is full of character with a lovely large Tuscan country kitchen. The dining area is light and airy with beautiful views over the Tuscan countryside. Polcanto is a great area for exploring and reaching locations such as Florence, Siena and Bologna. There is plenty to see and do and there is quick access to the large lake for swimming and cooling down in the Tuscan sun.
We would definitely go back for holiday here.
