We absolutely loved our stay at this beautiful home! Our family was there for my daughterâs college graduation from College of Charleston . It was the perfect location near all the amazing shopping and restaurants within walking distance . We spent many hours catching up on the two outdoor porches as well. Definitely would stay again !
Great old feel Charleston home near Kings St that is in walkable distance to Market Street. Shops and restaurants nearby. Bedrooms were clean and comfortable. Will definitely recommend and plan to stay again in the future.
We had an excellent stay at The Sunsetter! The house was beautiful, comfortable, and the hosts excellent communicators! The house was very well stocked and very roomy with everything we needed. And perfect location to several shops and restaurants. Perfect girls trip!
Very expensive, so we were expecting a five star facility with amenities. Instead, we got a 3 star facility with no view and no amenities. Parking was inadequate and difficult to navigate, and poorly described in listing. The first time we used the toilet in the master bedroom it didnât flush, but issue fixed next day. A large tree limb fell onto the side of my car in the cramped parking space along the porch side of the house. Attic bedroomâs slanted ceiling was awkward for our tall family member.
This was a historic and beautiful house but presented some issues. The living room did not match the photos which had light colored walls. It had been repainted terracotta and looked quite different. Only one leather sofa was still there and covered with a fabric cover. The other all-fabric couch smelled like old food. There were too many knick knacks from garage sales that were dust covered or sticky. The kids rooms were two stair flights up and even though I appreciated the powerful AC units in the bedrooms, they were so loud only my husband could sleep. The living room tv needed a lot of intervention to function including new batteries in the remote, a router reset, and remote reprogram. It was frustrating. I loved the master bed and bathroom. The bed was clean and comfortable. The kitchen was also clean and well stocked save for the worst kitchen towels ever and no towels in the first floor bathroom. One spindle was missing from the second floor stair railing 15 feet up and my dog almost fell through the hole. I was told theyâd send maintenance but was never contacted. I ended up knotting a blanket all around it to block it off from my dog and kids. The neighborhood had a few gems (bagel shop) and was only one block from King St but felt dangerous to walk around. Trash everywhere, dilapidated buildings, broken sidewalks, and wild overgrowth.
This place was everything that the listing says it is. My friends and I really enjoyed our stay there. The communication with the host was quick and convenient. The one small issue we had with a clogged toilet was quickly fixed, and without anyone having to stay at the house and wait for a maintenance tech. The 2 off-street parking spots are like gold in this neighborhood, as on street parking is mostly taken up by residents and construction vehicles. I would like other potential guests to be aware that there is currently a lot of construction going on directly across the street, and it promptly starts at 730am, so don't plan on sleeping in. This is not a knock against the house or the host, just something to be aware of.
House was very comfortable for our family of four adults. The space was just as described and provided all that we needed. Location is walkable to just about any part of the city. I would definitely book here again.
Beautiful historic home in a great location. Walkable to shopping, restaurants and the Battery. Beds were comfy as well. Would definitely book again. The only problem we encountered was a heating problem on the main floor, but it was an exceptionally cold weekendâŠ
The property was great and very accurate to online pictures and description. The only thing that was a "downfall" was the construction happening next door to the property and across the street. The house is very old and the walls are thin so we were woken up early from that. Otherwise it was a great location and place to stay in CHS.
This was a great place to stay during our time in Charleston. Very close to King Street and a lot of other thing- a lot of cute little shops, and local restaurants. Definitely recommended for the cleanliness, space, amenities and location. Only thing - it did get very noisy on a Saturday night with people walking past the house, cars playing loud music. However, if you are a deep sleeper, you may not even notice it. But it was a holiday weekend- so unsure if itâs a usual occurrence. Would stay here again!
House was as the photos depicted. Check-in was a breeze. All the amenities were present. Easy walk to many fun places. Enjoyed the side porch in the evenings. Will stay here again
Good location as it was within walking distance to many restaurants, shopping and other activities.
Very noisy on Saturday nights with lots of traffic including motorcycles, emergency vehicles, cars, and people. Use earplugs!
Driveway is very narrow.
We had a Chevy Suburban which was difficult to maneuver in the driveway unless you are used to a large car in tight places.
The place was out of amenities such as laundry soap, hand soap dispenser empty in master bath, ran out of toilet paper.
The concierge was excellent though and supplied what we needed quickly.
The place could have been a bit cleaner; a styrofoam container with leftover food was found under a bed on our last day when we checked for belongings.
Kitchen and baths were quite clean though.
I would stay here again and again. Spacious, well appointed and nicely decorated. Plenty of sunlight through the ample windows making the home bright and cheery. Kitchen is stocked with everything you need for cooking in, even basic spices and cooking oil. Coffee filters and a nice fresh bag of coffee was provided. Upper & Lower Deck were great places to enjoy a glass or wine and afternoon sunbathing. The master bath with Jacuzzi tub was a treat after a long day of traveling or walking King street. Two free off street parking spaces provided directly beside the house.
Great little cafe with amazing coffee and homemade cookies that are to die for just around the corner. "Babas on Cannon".
We really were so pleased and loved, loved, loved this place.
One suggestion to give the place a competitive edge is if the place does not have a same day check out to "invite" incoming guest for an earlier check in or be proactive in responding to a request for early check in. While a 4pm check in is pretty standard with vacation rentals...such a late time not only kills travelers first day of vacation but also leaves tired traveler with nothing to do but drive around looking for a place to kill time which is exhausting and stressful. Note we were allowed to check in 30 minutes early but since we had to check out of our Vrbo in Savannah at 11am... we had 2.5 to kill after a two hour drive.
We have a few rentals we had stayed in several times in Key West & NC and we are always accommodated with an early check in if no same day check out.
Aside from that, this is a great choice and highly recommend.
We had a great stay for my husbands 70th birthday celebration with family and friends! The house had all our needed amenities: large master bedroom with TV on a the second floor with large in suite bathroom as well as an outside balcony porch to enjoy off of the master bedroom. A second and third bedroom on the top (third) floor. We also had a first floor balcony porch off of the living room and dining room. The porches faced the alleyway/driveway with patio lights swung between the houses making this a very relaxing quaint environment for a getaway. But being right in the city of Charleston there was plenty adventures awaiting.
