"It was $E40 from the airport which has to be factored into the cost. But there weren't other better options the night I needed to stay over "close" to the airport. Hotel isn't fancy but was comfortable. They had a vending machine of high-sodium prepared mostly pasta dishes for two, in the lobby that functions until 10pm or 11pm. Plus a tank of hot water. Nothing walkable in the immediate area. The nice late night desk staffer took pity and scrounged me a yogurt and crackers from the breakfast stash which meant a lot to me, and is why I give this place 5 stars across the board. "The Hotel Lago Maggiore is everything you’d want for your time in Locarno and more. It is modern, beautiful, sparkling clean, well-maintained, expertly staffed, and ideally located. What truly distinguishes the hotel is first and foremost how you are treated, from the warm welcome and recognition of returning guests to the attention they pay to every detail, with extra kindnesses that include bottles of water in your room each day and a thank you gift when you leave. The view from each of the lakeside rooms is absolutely stunning and instantly brings a smile to your face when you open the drapes in the morning. It is wonderful sitting outside whether on the room’s terrace, the rooftop terrace, or on the ground-level bar/lounge/restaurant terrace. The icing on the cake is the restaurant. Breakfast is delicious, as is lunch, but dinner is truly exceptional — do try the tasting menu for an unforgettably perfect meal! We had a terrific time and hope to return soon!"
