Vintage Island Home 2 Blocks From Town. 4 Bdrs, 2 Kitchens, 3 Bath. Can Sleep 14
No minimum stay required! No additional cleaning fee. Our beautiful vintage island house is centrally located and within walking distance from the ferry landing. If you choose just walk on the ferry and avoid the lines and expense of bringing a car. A large, fully provisioned kitchen, Comfortable common/living rooms and four bedrooms can accommodate up to 14 people. This historic house has hardwood floors, original built-ins and plenty of charm. A great home base right in town. The Loring house is the perfect location for your next vacation or get-together.
The proximity to the town and ferry was a plus. Neighborhood was quiet and safe to walk around. There were plenty of comfy beds but the layout wasnât great for multiple families or large group. The house was dirty and didnât have very much toilet paper to accommodate a large group. Would have loved the outdoor space but it was overgrown and unusable. Not ideal for a large group of 13. Better for a smaller group as there is only dining space for 9 -10 comfortably. Overall the place was fine and we made it work for our trip. The host communicated well and made the check in check out process super easy!
The location is great but the lack of cleanliness was noticable. For the price I was expecting more. Wood floor dusty, socks were fifthly after an evening of cards the first night. Two used towels hanging on the back of the bathroom door. Found a large metal water bottle on back porch. Glass table top in nook wasn't washed (lots of cup rings) Wooden Stair case needed washing, duck tape holding window together in Living room was an eye sore, the area around door knobs weren't clean, couple of coffee mugs found dirty in cabinet, towels upstairs smelt musty, (we appreciate when owners provide them, but not if I have to wash them first) toaster released crumbs constantly. The bedroom off kitchen has no air ventalation it got so stuffy and hot. It was nice to have puzzles but they were all miixed up together and when we finally separated them and put them together they all had missing pieces. The closet.provided in one room was from the 30's and left your clothes smelling old. We ended up hanging them from a shelf in the room. The ceiling fan light in the bathroom was so dirty. Cobwebs are always a sign that the cleaning crew is sleeping while working. Beds were comfortable except the one in the kitchenette room. The backyard had knee high weeds. So we just stayed on the porch. One bulb working in main bathroom but if you want to be in walking distance of everything in Friday Harbor then this is a great place.
Good âoldâ property which made it fun and unique. Beds could use an upgrade.
Cleaning service was lacking, cobwebs, some dishes in cupboard were dirty, bathroom mirrors full of toothpaste
We traveled to Friday Harbor with our Son, daughter-in-law and our dogs. The house could have accommodated many more that 4 people and their dogs. It was clean and comfortable and very accessible to town. Wish we could have stayed longer . . . next time for sure!!
Great property with plenty of room for a large group. Excellent location with an easy walk to ferry/floatplane docks, restaurants, groceries, and shopping downtown.
We loved our stay in this cozy old home. There was plenty of room for our group of nine. It is close to town and you can easily walk to restaurants and shopping.
We have stayed at the Loring House several times now and always appreciate that it is easy walking distance to town, the ferry, and the fairgrounds. And it sleeps 14, which is great for big families like ours to share with friends and relatives!
It is a low-frills sort of place, but that is just fine. It is a charming older Craftsman home, with wood floors and cozy nooks. For big groups you will get to know each other with 4 or more to the room, but the rooms are still roomy enough. There is a spare kitchenette upstairs but we have never used it. There is room to lounge about and to get to know each other around the kitchen table, various nooks, and the nice yard. The charcoal BBQ works well. There is no dishwasher but bonds are made over things like sudsy hands. The water is hot and 3 bathrooms means rarely a wait, even for large groups. The internet is good if you can't pry the phones out of the hands of the younger crowd. The DVD player wasn't working for us - but who uses DVDs anymore anyway?
For bigger groups be aware that dishes and silverware will get tight, and there isn't a table big enough to comfortably seat more than about 8 at one time (but that didn't stop any fun). There were plenty of pots and pans that we needed, and a coffee maker and microwave.
We will definitely be back again next time we take a trip to the islands. Thanks!
Great location to town! Beds were comfortable and we easily slept 7. (Beds a bit snug to sleep a couple)
Kitchen space was good but but dated. We used it for simple meals, nothing elaborate.
Living room area was comfortable. Wish there was a front screen door to take advantage of good weather days.
Bedroomâs could use better window coverings so bring an eye mask if you want to sleep in or go to bed early.
House was accurately described and great for our group, with plenty of space. Walkable to town and right around the corner from San Juan Brewery. Cute little outdoor area
Although by no means 'fancy' digs, the house and its furnishings were perfectly comfortable and ideal for our group of six. It was a 5-8 min walk to the center of town, so convenient to all activities. We didn't do any cooking so can't speak to the adequacy of the kitchen furnishings, but you do need to provide your own coffee. Simple, reasonably priced accommodations in a beautiful location.
