Wow what a beautiful hotel. This was perfection in every way. Right from check in, to our beautiful room, with our private onsen bath on the balcony. It was clean, comfortable and was absolutely beautiful. The gardens and the path trail were stunningly beautiful both day and night.

Lovely Ryokan visit

Amazing hospitality. We loved the whole vibe of a ryokan hotel. Strolling around the property in kimono was very relaxing. Having private balcony onsen was also amazing! Our only issue was the quality of meat received at the Japanese grill restaurant. One day is was great. The next day, the same cuts of meat were much tougher.

We had a wonderful stay at this hotel. I booked the room with a private onsen bathtub, Shabu Shabu Beef and Crab dinner and buffet breakfast for my family of four. The food was delicious! Conveniently, the hotel had a bus shuttle that picked you up from the train station and shuttled you to the hotel. The public onsen baths for women was amazing. My daughter and I enjoyed both bathing areas very much! We didn’t want to leave. Make sure to attend the onsen teaching presentation if it's your 1st time. The information was very helpful. We loved the all you can eat ice cream too. Overall, we had a great experience and would come back again! Thank you!

Amazing onsens and views. Not many food options on site given how remote the hotel is. Wonderful rooms and private onsen. Also access to family friendly one (would not recommend). Do not lose your room key!

We came here for our honeymoon. The staff went above and beyond to make out stay a very special one. The hotel was very high-end and comfortable. We loved our private onsen and the morning breakfast. We also got unlimited ice cream! Would highly recommend this to anyone wanting a special trip or to relax in Hakone.

Really liked: - Close to hiking spots - The Onsens were clean and beautiful - The Welcome crew and even the staff when we were departing gave exceptional service - The PJs and robe were so convenient and beautiful to wear. - In-room massage chair was a plus - The entire staff during our stay was phenomenal and we felt like royalty. - Some of breakfast items in the buffet were overcooked - Switching shoes before and after using the restrooms were an inconvenience - The shuttle service (hours) was very inconvenient since our train arrived right before the driver took a lunch break Overall, it was an amazing hotel!! Thank you for the experience.

Hakone Kowakien Ten-yu is a place to go to make full use of the facility. This is an excellent resort, 5 Stars definitely. The staff members were impeccable. They went the extra mile to meet our needs. The rooms were super. All of our rooms were large with an onsen tub in the balcony with the a great view. Nevertheless, a dip in the main onsen was amazing. There was also a heated pool that was great for the kids. A couple things to keep in mind is that this resort is deep in the mountains with limited transportation and eateries. We only had breakfast at the resort, which was first rate. We wished we had made reservation for dinners. As for transportation, check the bus schedule before hand. Also, be sure to make reservations for taxi before hand too. We truly had a relaxing, enjoyable stay.
