Don't stay here.

Parking was 4 blocks away. Room was old and dilappitated. Afraid to leave anything in the car. Took a hotel cart to pick up luggage. It barely fit in the elevator which rattled and shook all the way to the 5th floor. Room door wouldn't shut unless you slammed it. Bed was hard as a rock. Would have been more comfortable on the floor. Good breakfast included except everything was cold (eggs, potatoes, sausage etc.). No counters at all in the bathroom. Coffee maker had to be moved to bedside table to plut in. Woman at desk was friendly but was extremely difficult to understand because of her very thick accent. Area of town did not look safe. Homeless sleeping in doorway across street.

Positive and negatives

Staff are very professional, knowledgeable, friendly. Rooms and hotel are clean and functional. I'd suggest anyone considering staying with a vehicle should call the hotel to check the current parking situation as they do not have enough parking beside the hotel and yet still charge to park 2 blocks away in a public lot. Also, request a room that does not face the street currently under construction unless you are OK being woken up with construction noise at 7am.

This is a historic hotel that has a lot of potential however, it could use a little TLC. The decor is tired and could use a refresh. Even small things like fixing cracks in wood, tile or rips in the curtains or the lamp shades. Maybe consider 2 ply toilet paper over 1 ply! It doesn’t have to cost a lot but more attention to detail is required. Parking is a gong show. Food in the bar was average along with the service. It wasn’t a horrible stay but could be improved. After sayjng all that, the location is great as there are many restaurants and bars in walking distance.

This hotel is definitely older but comes with a lot of charm for it. All areas were well maintained and clean. The bathroom was very small and basic but spotless. For the price, I had expected more of the mattress (basic model, hard and bouncy) and the pillows (lumpy), as well as the breakfast included (basic, no fruit/yogurt/bagels, watery coffee). The location was perfect for me close to the hospital and in the middle of the vibrant downtown with lots of shops and restaurants. A rude awakening, unfortunately, was the road racing, yelling and laughing and the thumping of music (from a nearby nightclub?) in the middle of the night. Also, parking at the hotel is not free! Overall, I enjoyed my stay at this hotel, but the quality could have been better.

A few issues with our room that needed to be addressed. It’s an old hotel that does need a bit of upgrading. However the staff is very polite and helpful. I had been a bit upset about the issues in our room which prevented us from getting ready to go out for the evening. The front desk person was so kind to upgrade us to a different room which was lovely. Thank you for that 😊 Good value for the money. Will come back. 8

Our room was nicely decorated and very clean. The bathroom has no counter so there was no where for my toiletry bag. The food in the Tumbleweed Lounge was disappointing. The veggies that came with the salmon dinner tasted like they were from a frozen bag of veggies, not fresh, very soggy. The free breakfast OK but get there early as the food was sparse andcold when we arrived at 8:30am.

We stayed in Rm 309 just above the bar on the front street of the property. It was unbelievably noisy with street noise and bar music drunk people screaming till 2.30am. We used to like staying at this hotel but after this we won’t be back.

Budget Hotel

The hotel shows its age but is clean. Parking close to the hotel so we were a little concerned about our vehicle's safety given the transients in the area. Free breakfast was not very good. Eggs, sausages, hashbrowns and french toast were all cold so we had muffin and coffee.
