The hotel is the heart of Gion area. Close to all the traditional Japanese houses. Also, walk-able to the hip area of Gion. There is a famous temple and a shrine within 5 min walk of the hotel which was a special treat for me. However, it is far from Kyoto station, 40 mins walk and a 7-10 min local train ride. The walk is safe and you get to see the city. The staff members were kind and accommodating. Though many members were in their training but were going a great job. They did every best to communicate with various languages and requests from the guests. The only suggestion would be to add lotion along with rest of the toiletries. Thank you!

The hotel was nice, and but for the renovations it would have been 5 stars from me. But the blocked window in the room really wasnt ok. Also out of 4 nights of our stay the room was cleaned only once, which isnt enough - even though clean towels were put outside our door without fail, so its in the plus side. The local was absolutely great, and all in all, the hotel was very nice overall...

Construction is happening and it was not mentioned anywhere while booking the room. So windows were essentially blocked so no outside view made it that much worse because of very small rooms; communications w staff was difficult. Breakfast was mediocre. Great location though..

The room was clean and comfortable, if small. The location was very good - near a temple and 8 minutes' walk from the metro. If you're expecting customer service and a personal touch, you'll be disappointed. All very functional and business -like. The hotel was completely covered in sheeting during refurbishment ( which they obviously don't tell you at the time of booking), so there was no view put of any windows. We went in late April and the area was rammed with tourists. Not sure if it's quieter any other time of year but if not, Kyoto's got a serious problem.

Rooms are VERY small also property is undergoing construction which they warn you about it but it means they wrapped all the building with zero views. Potentially it’s better to get a hotel slightly further from Gion with better options. Bigger rooms and no construction .

The location was perfect! Very walkable to all there is to do in Gion. Bus stop in front of the hotel and a short walk to the train. The room was very spacious for us, especially after coming from a tiny room in Tokyo it felt huge. Temperature control in the room was nice. The breakfast buffet could be better, it was a bit expensive for what it was.

The hotel was undergoing construction outside horrible and we got dirty water the first day of 4 and check in took for ever and the room was for a family of 4 but the bed are twin bed so uncomfortable

Great location

Great location near Yasaka Shrine, Kennin-ji, and Kiyomeza Dera. Very much enjoyed the Japanese style breakfast buffet. The hotel was undergoing renovation work in April 2025 so the exterior and all windows were entirely covered, so some travelers will object.
