This was my second time staying at the Mitsui Garden Hotel Kyoto Shinmachi Bettei, and I will gladly stay again when I return to Kyoto. The staff was warm, welcoming, and accommodating, and did everything they could to ensure our stay was as enjoyable as it could be. The location is also very central and easily accessible by transit.

Mitsui Garden hotels earned a lifelong customer due to the care, professionalism, and service provided during our 4-night stay. The staff were attentive and kind assisting my wife and I in both English and Japanese. The room was clean, spacious and all amenities of your choosing are provided. We were able to use the buffet breakfast several times and it was delicious and the staff were very courteous even though they were extremely busy. On a personal note, I would like to say Yoshida-san in reception really stood out and was super kind to myself and my wife. We were recently married and she had provided us a small gift of congratulations. Thank you Mitsui Garden, the staff, and Yoshida-san for making our Kyoto trip even more memorable!

Hotel was fine. An ordinary western style hotel. Clean but not particularly charming. In-house sento is quite nice. Location is decent, staff is decent.

We really enjoyed our stay here. The hotel is beautiful, with kind and friendly staff who made us feel welcome throughout. The rooms are spacious and comfortable, and a thoughtful detail we appreciated was that the staff secured our luggage in our room before our arrival when we had it sent directly from Tokyo. One point of feedback: it would be wonderful to offer cold water in the lobby, especially during the hot and humid seasons. Not only would this be a kind gesture, but it’s also important for guest comfort as they come and go during the day. Another area for improvement is the laundry service. While it’s a convenient amenity, the process felt quite chaotic. With only two 2-in-1 washer/dryer machines available, guests often abused access by monopolizing them, making it difficult for others to use. The machines themselves also seemed worn out and didn’t clean or dry well. A fairer system—such as a waitlist—and upgraded machines would go a long way. In the meantime, I would recommend using a nearby laundromat for better results.
