Original Circa 1818 Oak Lodge
Totally restored 1818 cabin, with original oak logs and pine plank floors. Once inside the cabin, it has all the comforts you have come to expect, granite island, gas logs, modern bath, and new comfy double beds and much more. The comfy double beds are upstairs in the open private loft area, the second sleeping area is downstairs on a fold out sofa bed. There are no bedroom doors on either sleeping area.
This little spot was everything myself and a couple of old friends needed for a long weekend. Very close to major distilleries. Neighborhood was quiet, and the yard spacious. Check in and check out was seamless. Everything needed for the stay was there. I will definitely stay there again!
We had a great stay at the Oak Lodge! Definitely one of the most unique places weâve been to! We did a last week of Summer break getaway with our three children (9, 5 and 3). They loved it and found the bookshelf with the toys right away! The house was equipped with anything we would need during our stay. It was a short distance to Shaker Village and Old Fort Harrod which were fun day trips. Itâs also conveniently located to restaurants, grocery stores and more. Judi is an excellent host. She was very communicative and responsive. We will definitely stay again the next time we are in the area!
We were headed back to Columbus, Ohio from Nashville and wanted a quaint place to spend the evening. This cabin was great. Very historic and full of charm. Loved the screen porch. Would come back.
I grew up in a place with many of the features this cabin has, so there was a touch of nostalgia to it for me. It's a charming place for sure, with antiques throughout. The screened porch is an especially nice addition! Just be aware that there is a musty smell that may linger on your clothes for a few days even after you wash them, and as the description says it IS close to everything, including train tracks, so there is no quiet to be had, even at night. Fortunately, this means your group can sit out on the screened porch to talk and laugh without worrying about disturbing neighbors. There is a cemetery very close by, which is a great place to walk. The description said this place has a "golf course front," but we saw no golf courses nearby. Didn't miss it, though, since the cemetery did the trick. The host, Judi, is magnificent -- probably the best hands-off host we've ever experienced in all our years of using services like Vrbo. I definitely recommend the Oak Lodge if you'd like to experience some historical charm to go along with your distillery tours!
The cabin is an authentic log cabin with modern amenities. It brought about a great discussion of how the pioneers might have lived and how hard it was then. Judi had some extra conveniences that made it extra nice. The trains the regularly pass briught a lot of discussion about Early America. Thank you for your hospitality. added an extra tocinversatins.
My husband and I throughly enjoyed our trip and stay at the cabin. We immersed ourselves into the history of the area and appreciated everything this cabin has seen and been through. Judi was an amazing host, she had snacks ready for when you arrived and the place was very clean and welcoming! Thank you Judi for your hospitality and your quickness with responses.
First of all I want to say I love this place but I just can't. The owner is very nice and absolutely easy to work with but the cabin is in need of repair and a thorough cleaning. With taxes and fees the price was near 385$ which is very steep for this room. First impression.... very unlike the VRBO picture, it is located on a very busy intersection with a train station nearby. It was quite loud. Upon entering, the musty smell was overwhelming .. it is a rustic 1818 cabin, rich with history I know, but rustic and ok for guests are two different things. My husband and I could see the outside from inside the house, again rustic I know, but the spider webs were literally everywhere and mouse droppings were evident on both levels. The bedding was clean and temperature was nice and I did appreciate the snacks provided by the host. If you choose to stay here keep in mind it is very rustic and a little
More primitive than i prefer.
Couldn't think of a better place to stay while enjoying the Bourbon Trail. Many distilleries close by. The home was well kept, clean, and so amazingly decorated.
Everything was beautiful, and cozy !!! Communication with owner was one on one texts !! I do highly recommend this cabin !!! We stayed in September⊠I loved it so much staying again in November !!! âïžâïžâïžâïžâïž
Oh my goodness! The cabin is marvelous. The location central. The host is the most! Great communication, recommendations and service. The cabin is near train tracks but I for one love the sound of a train. We absolutely loved staying there and Judi is the best! We hope to be back!
We absolutely loved this property. Its historic and old but well maintained and has everything you need. The owner left a welcome basket of goodies and the check in was so easy. Highly recommend.
The house was beautifully charming, and the screened-in porch was exactly what I was hoping for! Very relaxed, comfortable surroundings, and my communications with Judi (the property owner) were great. I definitely recommend!
What a beautiful cabin rich with history. Host was super helpful and thoughtful! Road noise during peak commute hours but otherwise quiet. Loved my stay!
