Avis pour Walk to Lake: Historic Lakeside Marblehead Cottage
The cottage was in close proximity to the lake and other buildings at Lakeside. The upstairs bedroom could have been arranged better to allow for room on both sides of the full size bed. Overall, we enjoyed our stay very much.
I knew it was an old property on the lake so I wasnât expecting anything fancy. Itâs small and cute. Kind of dark. Could benefit from a little outside clean up, trimming the trees, etc, washing the window. We had new mattresses. They were delivered that day. Lakeside is a super cute community. We visited the pool. Kids need to do a swim test or they need to be with in arms reach of a parent even though my 10 year could touch everywhere. Lots of activities in the community.
The location of the property and the potential is so great. The living room was enjoyable. It definitely is an older lakeside cottage with very steep steps to 2nd floor and lots of wooden floorboards. The moldy smell from the AC units needs to be addressed...it really made the air stink. As well as the mold around the kitchen sink. Some bleach and sealing the sink countertop would help. Lastly, the beds are so uncomfortable.
We appreciated that we could bring our dog, and we enjoyed the outside space. I think a few small changes would make this space more enjoyable for people who enjoy that traditional lakeside cottage feel.
This isn't meant to be mean or cruel. But to be clear about the areas that we did not enjoy about this stay.
This cottage is really in the heart of Lakeside. It is so close to everything! Itâs a very quiet street as there are only neighbors on one side and itâs a few blocks from downtown. The cottage is very clean and the owner is wonderful about communicating before and throughout the stay. The kitchen has everything you need! The only downside were the beds. Most are old mattresses topped with foam and are NOT comfortable at all. I did address it with the owner who said the problem would be remedied next year when they do some remodeling and that the current stairway does not give adequate access to bring new mattresses or box springs in. It is just something I wish I would have known before committing. All in all, however, we enjoyed our stay, had a wonderful time and were so thankful that we were able to spend a few days in our happy place.
