The Gardens: Framed by towering Californian Redwoods and Himalayan Cedars, these famous gardens have been influenced by Ferdinand von Mueller, the former director of the Royal Botanic Gardens, more than 100 years ago.
Stroll through walled gardens and citrus groves, or curl up by the fire pit beneath a breathtaking Sequoia tree. Find a quiet moment with a book, enjoy a bath admiring the ancient trees and their stories, listen to the chorus of birdlife at dusk, or lay out a picnic in the rotunda as the afternoon light filters through the trees.
Beyond the gardens, the Yarra Valleyâs finest wineries, restaurants, and hidden gems await â just minutes from your DSTNTN Room.
Other Things to Note:
Things you need to know about your off-grid stay
The experience
DSTNTN is an off-grid luxury stay designed to immerse you in nature, stillness, and considered design. If youâre expecting a traditional hotel setup, this is not it. If youâre after an immersive stay, youâre in the right place. Each DSTNTN location is shaped by its natural environment, making every stay feel distinct. If youâre seeking something considered, and meaningfully different, youâre in the right place!
Toilet system
The home uses a Cinderella incinerating toilet system, designed in Norway. It's often a point of fascination for guests who enjoy clever, tech-forward design. Itâs particularly popular with those who appreciate innovative off-grid systems.
Power system (solar)
The home runs fully on solar power. High-energy appliances cannot be run 24 hours a day, including the split system. This is a glass-forward home designed for views and immersion, not constant high-energy hotel consumption. You can't plug in EV's.
Heating & cooling
In very cold weather, the split system can be used alongside blankets and a high-quality fluffy Bonny doona provided in the home.
In very hot weather, we recommend enjoying the outdoor spaces during peak heat (bath and firepit areas are ideal), and retreating indoors as temperatures ease later in the day.
The experience is designed to move with the natural environment rather than override it.
