Other than the location, there isn’t a single positive about this hotel. It’s tired, musty smelling and in need of a renovation. Worst of all, the front desk staff including the manager Alejandra need an attitude adjustment and retraining. Hospitality isn’t their thing and they should do something else for work. It’s the last time we stay at National.

Great time. Amazing staff aside from a nosey manager who scolded me for bringing my own white claw into the pool while I was trying to relax. I paid a lot of money for the hotel and it wasn’t glass. Do not interrupt my relaxing time like that, how about make sure I get the wine I was supposed to get at check in instead. All the other staff was so nice and so helpful. They need to fix the second elevator though because wait times were long and it got cramped. I gave 5 stars because the ocean view they upgraded us to couldn’t be beat. The staff other than the manager was amazing from the time we checked in, needed ice, ordered food and drink at the pool, and had pool or beach chairs setup. Appreciated the security staff allowing me to quietly lounge at the pool area after dark without bothering me and they gave recommendations. The location was perfect too. Liquor store across the street and Walgreens around the corner. Will strongly consider staying next time I’m at south beach.

Second time staying here and we loved it. The location it’s perfect, walkable distance everything. A lot of dining options in the hotel and the area around. They upgraded our room which was amazing and beach chairs and umbrellas were complimentary of the hotel. We had a great experience and enjoyed every minute of it. Would highly recommend this hotel

The hotel shows wear and tear that needs to be addressed. Have one elevator working for the entire building is unacceptable. We visited the hotel a few months ago and were given the excuse "we are working on it" the same elevator was still out. Construction on varies floors starting early prevents any idea of sleeping in. The hotel has aspirations to be extraordinary but sadly falls short. A bright spot was ; all the staff we interacted with we're extremely nice (aside from a woman working the front desk that identified herself as desk manager or assistant manager, she was rude).

This is the second year in a row we stayed and at least 1 elevator was out of service for the duration of our stay. Our room was on the 9th floor so that really put a damper on our experience.

Quiet Cabana rooms, nice pool

We had a great stay at National Hotel. The pools looked welcoming and the adult-only property sounded peaceful so I decided to book. I wanted a balcony so I booked the cabana room. It was nice, but looks bigger in pictures. I did appreciate having the larger closet to store my belongings and keep the room clutter free. The bathroom was a bit smaller than expected and the shower probably could use a refresh. All of the staff we encountered were friendly and always had a smile. We never had a problem getting a chair at the pool, but it was Thursday and Friday so the weekend may be different. We appreciated the easy access to water outside by the pool on a hot day. Our room was so quiet, we didn’t hear any outside noise or hallway disturbances. Much appreciated! I would book here again

We realize that this hotel is historic and iconic, but only one elevator worked the entire week. The other elevator was very small because it was historic. Only 2 pieces of luggage could fit in with 2 people. The bed was luxurious but the bathrooms are very small. On our second day the electricity went out and did not come on for 10 hours. It got to be 80 degrees in the room. Nothing was offered to the guests to compensate for the loss of electricity. Thankfully there was a ceiling fan over the bed and we eventually cooled off. Our oceanview was nice, with blackout shades. We did not realize that the hotel next door would host a club party on Friday and Saturday night. With our windows closed the thumping music went on until after midnight. This was not restful in anyway. During our stay the old AC unit started dripping water onto the floor all over. A repairman came right away, vacuumed up the water, tried to fix it but it continued to leak. At 11:30 pm we had to request a move, pack up our belongings to go to another room. As a result we were compensated with not having to pay resort fees for our stay. Things we loved: the staff, Connor, Elijah at the beach, Gigi at the bar and on the beach, Kiki at the front desk, Rachel at the front desk and Paul, the doorman. The two pools are extraordinarily gorgeous and lovely. The beach chairs and umbrella every day were incredibly helpful and appreciated. The food was very good, drinks were a little pricey for Midwestern standards.

The hotel is very clean and the pool area is being cleaned daily. Staff are very friendly and helping all the time. This is an adult only which I love - nothing against kids. Walk to private beach is very close and convenient. Would recommend to invest more advertising their Yoga classes :). The restaurant in the Hotel is amazing (Mareva 1939). I always stay in this Hotel if I choose to Visit the Miami Beach area.

Fantastic retro boutique hotel. Love the art, furnishings, decor, layout, location, restaurant and bars. Excellent caring and super polite staff. Will definitely make this my go-to place in Miami. Thank you!

Our experience at this hotel left a lot to be desired. When we arrived, we were shocked to find that the entire hotel had no power—something they never bothered to inform us about beforehand. Walking into a hot, dark lobby with no working elevators was completely unacceptable, especially after a long day of travel. We had booked an ocean view room, but the one we were given was incredibly small and nothing like the photos online. The so-called “view” was actually of a construction site, loud and unsightly. When we raised the issue, we were told we’d need to pay extra for an upgrade—a ridiculous ask considering the room we were given was not what it was meant to be. As if that wasn’t enough, we received a wake-up call from the hotel at 7:50 AM on our room phone. We were in Miami, on vacation, and being disturbed that early without any valid reason was just inconsiderate. Also worth mentioning: when we asked for toothpaste, we were handed a tiny, almost sample-sized tube that barely lasted a single use. For a hotel that claims to offer a high-end experience, the amenities were sorely lacking. The one saving grace of this hotel was the pool and beach area. The facilities were clean, relaxing, and beautifully maintained. And most importantly, the staff at the pool and beach were absolutely lovely—friendly, helpful, and professional. They truly stood out and made a small part of our stay enjoyable.

The National hotel is a stunning art deco hotel with modern amennities. Its a short 20ish minute drive from the airport (depending on traffic). You walk in and it feels like a blast from the past. The staff is warm and welcoming. The decor and lighting is beautiful and theres tons to do around the hotel. Theres a beautiful martini bar in the center of the lobby and the drink selections are awesome. Their pool and pool service is amazing. If you're looking to get away and relax, this is the spot. My wife and I loved our stay and would highly recommend booking a vacation here.
