Overall, we had a nice stay. Here are the overall highlights:
Property- Carillon took this over from Canyon Ranch in 2015, and many places on property look run down( rusty railings near the pool, doors to the outside, etc.) and well as under construction. Certainly not a 1000/night property.
Staff- 2/3 of the Carillon is residents ( maybe more), and the front desk agent said there are only about 55 rooms in the hotel part. In general, we felt like second class citizens here.We had torrential rain one day and We asked for umbrellas, but they don’t supply any. No real concierge, or doorman either. We booked 2 services in the spa, moved some times around, and then set up our day around that. Later we found out they didn’t move one of the appointments, leaving it in a slot that was no longer possible for us to do. Minimal responsibility was taken. The cleaning crew was amazing, getting everything done when requested! Room- very nice! Very large, and well appointed. We booked and ocean view suite, but we had to basically lean out over the balcony to see the water ( we were put on a low floor in the #12 line of rooms, I.e., 412,512, etc which was 2nd farthest from the water. #10 line is worse). Being an Expedia gold member, should’ve gotten us upgraded but that didn’t happen.
I loved the area, and Taquiza and Sushi Bichi are great restaurants, but I’ll look for a different place to stay next time.
