The Lagoon Suite at The Estuary Inn
Welcome to a nature-lovers paradise, in central Vancouver Island in Nanoose Bay (13km north of Nanaimo). This vacation suite is surrounded by 100 acres of protected bird sanctuary/estuary lands. With numerous beaches, nature trails and local attractions you can keep as busy exploring as you'd like, although we suspect you'll choose to spend your time enjoying the properties amenities, peace and quiet and bird watching/star gazing from your private deck (and outdoor tub)!
Beautiful property. Check in was so simple - code sent ahead of time and all seamless. We didnât cook but the kitchen was well equipped for all we needed - breakfasts, lunches etc. Everything was fabulous - and the host was right there if weâd needed anything. Weâre hoping weâre lucky enough to come back!
Haha - Just kidding. The Inn on the Estuary was an unexpected surprise du jour. The opportunity to watch a sunset over the estuary, bustling with wildlife & the sweet tweets... is just, wow! I'm jealous of how comfy the king bed was. I thought my bed & pillows at home were comfy- but this took first place. We played 18 holes of golf at the peaceful & lush, Fairwinds, only 10-12 mins by car. Bought a few groceries (10 min walk) - at Quality Foods. (Quality Foods "meat selection" is lame; I suggest you bring fish and/or meat from someplace else to BBQ.) There's no oven- but the BBQ is right outside the door on a common area / landing surrounded by lush foiliage, wild trees, grasses, and flowers. Harold, the owner, is super friendly, and quite an inspiration. His story of determination to build his dream home beside the estuary should be a movie. I have one request before I return; please put up an awning outside the suite deck, or a rattan blind and shift the bird feeders away from the window. At least 4 smashed into the window while we were there - one died. :-( Sort of took away from the bird "sanctuary" feel a tad. Anyhoo. What an amazing place. Love you Harold. Take care of your wife. Love to meet her next time. Looking forward to our return. Till next time. Cheerio. Bella & Rob
Waking up to a beautiful sunrise, with the sound of many different species of birds singing, having a fresh hot coffee on one of the beautiful decks. The air is fresh and crisp! The property is absolutely beautiful and well maintained. Laundry on site, all the hot water one could want, a fantastic jacuzzi overlooking the lagoon. Falling asleep to the chorus of peepers. Anyone looking for a piece of tranquility moments away from beautiful township are missing out if they donât book here. The owner is extremely attentive and welcoming. Celebrating our 10 year anniversary- this was the perfect place. We will DEFINITELY rebook on our next visit to the island.
A beautiful setting, well appointed with easy access and cool local spots of interest and many great dining options make this an awesome place to stay.
What a rare find. The Inn is located in a secure and quiet estuary, and itâs not to be missed. We were surrounded by nature in a wonderfully decorated suite. We saw eagles, bats, beavers and so many birds⊠Harold is a wonderful host. Canât wait to go back!
We spent 2 nights in the Lagoon Suite. It was lovely! The bed was very comfortable, and the suite had all the basic necessities. The outdoor was very relaxing. It was enjoyable to watch all the birds on the patio, and the beavers in the evening. The host Harold was very welcoming, and wished us well on our departure. We would certainly recommend this place to others!
My second stay in the Lagoon Suite at Inn the Estuary was just as wonderful as the first time. It's furnished like a high-end hotel room but also has a small, but adequate, kitchen. I'll definitely be back.
The accommodation was exceptional and above standard in all ways...incredible locale and the owner was very sociable and eager to help in any manner possible.
Unique setting in estuary marsh environment, created in consultation with indigenous landowners. Elegantly designed to meld seamlessly into the verdant surroundings. Management personable and quite accessible. Outstanding.
This is a wonderful location and the hosts are lovely. The rooms are always spotless with coffee, milk, sugar and other essentials provided as we do our meals there. We will be back.
This was located in a beautiful peaceful area- we loved the nature and the variety of birds we saw outside the windows. It was close to a lot of trails and forested areas. Harold was an amazing host - very helpful and friendly. You can immediately tell the pride he has in his inn and had lots of tips to enjoy the area. The suite was very comfortable and well laid out. We would definitely recommend anyone to visit for a great peaceful getaway. We will be back for sure when we come out to the island!
We love coming back to the Lagoon Suite at the Inn on the Estuary. Harold always greets us with an update on the birds and wildlife in the area. The lovely gift for guests was a beautifully painted mandala stone which I will use at my desk at home. The purple beautyberries were a spectacular sight in the fall foliage.
From the moment of arrival right through to when we finally had to leave this property we enjoyed every moment⊠we will return and recommend for sureâŠ!
The views offered at the estuary made you say wow every time you stopped to look out the window or even more when enjoying the deck area or the private tub on our patio. Breathtaking and serene and relaxing all rolled into one. The host has appointed the suite and design things remarkably well⊠Tiny little amenities that you wouldnât even think of to the basics were done very well and with design in mind. We were not left wanting for anything. Our interactions with the host were extremely pleasant, informative and just pleasant conversation⊠As mentioned, we will be back!
Excellent location. Very central and easy to get to Parksville, Qualicum and Nanaimo close by. Beautiful property and meticulously maintained. Property owners live on site and are super sweet and helpful. Unit was immaculate and well kept. They thought of every detail and well supplied. Laundry on site. Great spot. Highly recommended.
We were really looking forward to our stay having had to cancel several times in the last three years of the pandemic. The Lagoon suite is so well set up and we enjoyed sitting looking out at the estuary with its birds and the little beaver family. Harold provided a friendly greeting and showed us everything as well as checking with us that all had been well as we left. We look forward to a return visit.
From the time we drove into the b nd b it was exactly as the photo's we had seen. Norman was very welcoming and suggested great places to visit. It was exactly " what the Dr. ordered# . Thanks
