Originally commissioned in 1948 as a grand winter retreat and later reimagined by the legendary Arthur Elrod in 1961, this traditional estate offers a level of scale and sophistication rarely found today. Located in the heart of Old Las Palmas, this property combines the privacy of a gated manor with the convenience of being within walking distance to the world-class dining of the Uptown Design District.

Offering 4 beds, 4 baths, a generous open living space, and a saltwater pool and spa, this home still retains Elrod’s elegant design and is everything you need for your stay in Palm Springs.

The interiors reflect Elrod’s mastery of traditional elegance. The grand living room, anchored by a classic fireplace and soaring open-beamed ceilings, offers multiple vignettes for conversation and entertaining. A bespoke walnut bookcase provides a graceful transition to the game area, perfect for an evening of cards. High-set windows and glass sliders frame the manicured grounds, offering the quintessential "Indoor-Outdoor" lifestyle with an unobstructed view of the San Jacinto Mountains. There is a large smart TV in the living room, and the separate den/media room is a perfect spot to unwind with a book or watch TV on another large Smart TV.

Set against a dramatic mountain backdrop, the backyard is a lush, south-facing oasis. The oversized saltwater pool and spa are positioned for maximum sun exposure, while the expansive covered patio provides a shaded grandstand for outdoor dining. This is the "Old Palm Springs" lifestyle at its finest—quiet, secure, and profoundly beautiful.

The kitchen is a stunning preservation of high-end traditional design, featuring iconic St. Charles ‘desert beige’ cabinetry. This "chef’s engine room" remains remarkably relevant today, offering expansive counter space, a professional 6-burner range with griddle, three ovens, a warming drawer, and dedicated wine storage. It is a space designed for both quiet morning coffees and large-scale catering.

The large primary bedroom offers a king bed, a sitting area, and a smart TV. A slider provides gorgeous views of and direct access to the pool and spa. The en-suite bathroom features a large vanity with period finishes and a shower (the tub in this room is decorative only). You’ll also find a large dressing area and a walk-in closet so expansive that it features its own dedicated climate control.

The second bedroom is just down the hall and features a king bed and a small desk. The hall guest bath features a tiled tub/shower combo and fun mid-century details. The third bedroom is just off the kitchen and features a queen bed. This bedroom has an en-suite with a period shower and is across the house from the other bedrooms, offering a nice separation for privacy.

For the ultimate in discretion, the attached casita is reached via a charming private courtyard. Featuring a king bed, loveseat, Smart TV, beverage fridge, and en-suite bathroom, it serves as a stately sanctuary for long-term "Season" guests.

RULES AND THINGS TO NOTE:
**Pool and spa heat are optional for $30-$80 per day. This fee is not included in the quoted price on some booking platforms and, if not, will be collected after you book.
**Minimum age for every guest is 25 unless accompanied by a parent. No groups larger than 8 (regardless of age) and no parties.
**Palm Springs has strict noise, occupancy, and parking rules, INCLUDING THAT NO MUSIC IS ALLOWED OUTSIDE AT ANY TIME. Violation of these rules will result in a $1000 fine and immediate eviction from the house with no refund.
**Included in your booking is an accidental damage waiver fee which applies to covered damage up to $2000. Rules and limits apply. See the rental contract for more information.
**On rentals of 28-nights or more renter is responsible for the entire gas and electric bill from check-in to check-out based on meter reads. A $3500 utility deposit will be collected after booking and will be applied to these bills. Any remaining balance will be refunded to you.
**The City of Palm Springs requires an additional written contract which you must sign after you book and requires that you send us a copy of your ID before you check in.

We had a wonderful time at this rainfall decorated and beautiful home.There were just a few minor questions and inquiries but the management team was super attentive and took care of everything right away. Some of the very best service we have ever had from many VRBO rentals through the years. The house was very well appointed with everything we needed. A wonderful house for our large group of 6 adults. Highly recommend it and also a very convenient location to walk to Palm Canyon drive for dining and shopping.

Wonderful stay in Old Las Palmas

We just LOVED this wonderful home in Old Las Palmas. Very large yet has an intimate feel. The beds were magnificent, we had everything we needed in the kitchen, beautiful pool and spa, spectacular view of the mountains, walking distance from downtown (but VERY quiet neighborhood). The house was built in the 40s and updated in the 60s so there is both a wonderful combination of old Hollywood and Mid-Century Modern. Palm Springs at its best.

Palm Springs Mid Century classic

This is a wonderful home with a great location in the Old Las Palmas area. Its a classic property, ideal for those who appreciate mid-century design and are willing to be gentle with its collection of furniture pieces and the original fixtures. Its also very private with lovely surprises like four lemon trees out front, a great spa, and wonderful views. We highly recommend this property.

Resort living!

My entire family loved this property! Beautifully decorated with many extras. The outdoor space is amazing with a pool and hot tub with gorgeous mountain views. Outdoor games(bags, pool basketball, floats)and indoor board games. Location is walking distance to downtown and hiking trails. The team at Altamira were very professional and helpful. Great Base Camp

The property was as advertised--not super fancy but very comfortable. Pool area was excellent. 4 big bedrooms and 4 nice bathrooms. We had several work-from-home people and the place was large and well-laid out so we could all work in peace when necessary. Safe and secure. Cool outdoor patio. 2 washers and dryers. location let us walk to many fun spots. i recommend it for sure!

Beautiful Oasis in the Desert

Our family, including our 3 year old son, had a great time at the property. The backyard is large, peaceful, and relaxing - lots of green space and lawn in addition to a beautiful pool with mountain views. The house is spacious and well decorated. The kitchen is a bit dated but part of the house's charm is that, while modern, the style is vintage Palm Springs. Highly recommend.
