The staff were polite and the room kept clean. The food at the buffet was good but the restaurants not as good. The resort could be an excellent one if they use cones to restrict deep coat swimming and at night to use lights for the beach for night swimming (weather permitting) and beach shows.

Overall the resort is 4-5 star. Very good food and service. I'm rating 3 stars because on out last day, while checking out, one elevator broke down with an overcrowded hotel. I had to carry my suitcase up 2 flights of stairs to the lobby. Checking out was chaotic with the check in/check out desks mixed up with people being rude and cutting in front and most of the staff not speaking english or seeming to care abouy the lack of elevator service and us having to carry our suitcases up the stairs. Also the resort staff attempted multiple times to persuade us to sign up for a tour/presentation which we declined more than once. Also we had to ask daily for more hand towel, face towels and soap to be topped up. Otherwise the stay was pleasant.

I stayed here at the Grand Park Royal for 7 days. 2 adults & 2 children. I wouldn’t say this is a 5 star resort. -Location: it was along the beautiful mountains on the beach. The waves were a bit rough at times. It was a bit far from town which I wanted. Taxis & Uber pricing varied alot with getting around. Sun takes time to come to the front of hotel but I liked it. -Pools: 2 of 3 pools were ok. 2 big ones, 1 has a swim up bar, and the other was heated. The swim up bar pool was very cold. I barely seen people in it. It felt like a waste. The heated pool was nice. They did volleyball at times with which was a lot of fun. The kid pool was cold but my kids didn’t mind. All pools could use some touch ups. Food: I thought the buffet and seafood restaurant were good for adults. Biggest con was lack of options for kids everywhere other than the pool snacks. They have an Italian & Mexican restaurant for supper. We only went to the Mexican one once as food wasn’t very good and nothing for kids. We weren’t allowed to the Italian one as we had kids, highly disappointing. The server was rude about it. Room: was in 301 at end of hotel, obstructed view but you could see some of ocean. Bed was very hard. We tried to upgrade 3 to 4 times. Kept telling us just to check back but never did it. AC was loud but worked good. Room had a bad smell. Staff: most were very friendly! They work long hours every day. Kids club: weird smell masked with bad cleaner. Different colour band may have helped

The hotel was very nice. All of the staff was very pleasant and polite, including the bell man. Ignacio. One of the things I had a problem with at the hotel was the fact that they left us a bare minimum of towels each day. We didn’t even have face cloths until the sixth or seventh day of our nine day stay. Our major complaint was definitely the quality of the food. Our best experience was the Italian restaurant. The food there was à la carte and top quality Italian food. The lasagna was delicious. The soup was great the salad was always very fresh. All of the other restaurants, we found the food to be subpar. The best seafood at the seafood restaurant was tilapia, which most of us know is a tasteless fish and they did not season. As far as the Mexican food goes, I have had better Mexican food at a just OK restaurant in Arizona. Everything was sauces upon sauces upon sauces. Our favorite food was the club sandwiches that we could order through room service. We did at one point put a complaint in with the front desk, knowing that nothing could be done at that point. Another issue was that the pool was not heated. Next time we book a trip at a hotel with the pool I will make sure that it is heated. There were days that nobody was in the pool except for a few of the children and when the pool warmed up a little bit, it was mostly children in the pool. The adults were not comfortable with the cold water. This was most likely our last trip to Mexico.

I am writing this review to document a safety failure my family experienced during our stay and to warn other travelers. Late at night, while my wife, our child, and I were asleep, an unauthorized man entered our room. At that moment, we had no way of knowing that he was intoxicated or had the wrong room. We genuinely believed a break-in was occurring and feared for our safety. His behavior, movements, and loud noises were extremely frightening from the first second. I am physically smaller than the man who entered, which made the situation more intimidating, as my priority was to protect my wife and child. Our child was terrified, and the emotional impact of being woken by a stranger inside the room should not be dismissed, especially for families traveling with children. We recorded a short 13-second video of the incident, and everyone who has seen it said they would be extremely frightened and unsure how they would react in that situation. This should never happen in any hotel. Preventing unauthorized access to guest rooms is a basic responsibility that guests should be able to rely on. What made this experience worse was how it was handled afterward. Despite the seriousness of the incident, neither the hotel nor Expedia took appropriate responsibility, and our refund request was refused. I am not posting this to create drama. I am sharing our experience to warn other guests, particularly families, and to highlight a serious failure in safety and accountability.
