I had an amazing stay! The hotel was great — very comfortable, excellent communication with the staff, and super pet-friendly. I brought my little dog and she was warmly welcomed. The location was perfect — very walkable and close to everything, with a cool neighborhood vibe. Highly recommend, especially if you’re traveling with pets!

Check-in: I never received any check-in instructions until 2 hours from 4pm of the day of arrival. This was really concerning me because the notes associated with this hotel's page indicated that the check-in instructions would be sent up to 48 hours ahead of check-in. The access code was easy to use, but the sheer lack of communication leading up to receiving the access code was so frustrating, that I found myself messaging them via the hotels.com website as well as their own website's "contact us" page. Room itself: We were given a room on the second floor (the top floor of the building) and the room door was right in front of the staircase. The room door was associated with some access code device, but the latch was a bit loose, which ended up with an incident where some random person barged into the room (with no explanation of why they even barged in..). This gave me some concern for my security. Everything else seemed clean and organised UNTIL I saw a spider crawl across the ceiling and a centipede-looking bug crawl across the floor. I in fact woke up the next day to a spider in my shoe. There was also a ball of dust next to the radiator. Washroom: Clean enough but the sink was installed literally four feet away from the bed. The floor of the shower was clean, but the installation to cover the water (shower "doors" I guess) were not the cleanest. Other: Hair dryer's back (the metal mesh) was literally scotch-taped to the dryer. Fire hazard. Be careful.

Just my wife and I , we booked this months in advance. There is no staff in the building , bathroom was dated and moldy, barking dog in room next to us, window opens to admin closet. TV did not work, room was stuffy. Horrible worse experience in years. Do not go here. Room was never cleaned, we had to go get our own towels.

We had a nice stay at Hotel Charles-Alexandre. However, it would have been improved if there had been a concierge staff at the front desk. We had a few issues that could have been quickly resolved had there been someone to talk with, and someone to advise us as to local restaurants, shops, sights. The location was good, and the bed comfortable. No dresser in the room, just a small closet with no hangers, and no fresh coffee in the lobby. We had a dehumidifier/AC unit in the room that leaked on the floor and a window we couldn't close. Staff checked in daily via text, but someone at the front desk would have been very helpful.

The location was ideal for our sightseeing. The atmosphere was very nice and our room was good. The beds were comfortable. There wasn't any staff around at any time and that was a bit problematic when something was needed. For instance, we ran out of tissues and there wasn't anyone around to ask for more. Another example is not knowing how to use the HVAC system in the room and there weren't any directions as far as I know. I think it is strange to not have anyone to act as "host" for the property.

Quaint, boutique hotel. A bit of a walk to the walled city. Fyi, no elevator. If booking through 2nd party, like hotel.com, then call hotel to reserve a parking space $25 per night.
